Lost another officer this morning, two others were injured with non-life threatening injuries.
Looks like the news was coming out of Baily. Sad day for our law enforcement community.

Not many details are available (surprise), but according to multiple sources three Park County deputies in Bailey were shot today, one deceased, suspect is dead.
1 deputy dead, 2 injured in Park County shooting; One suspect also shot and killed
PARK COUNTY, Colo. - One deputy is dead and two other deputies are injured after a shooting in Bailey.
Officials confirmed to Denver7 that one suspect was shot and killed. However, it's not known if the suspect was shot by deputies or if the suspect took their own life.
The bomb squad and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations has been called to the scene. However, officials have not yet said where the shooting happened.

When you have people higher up the governmental food chain who made known their opinion of LE's. IMO it sent a message to the unsavory element of society. Today is unfortunately another result of said attitude.
We're not even out of the 1st quarter of the year and how many does this make both state and nationally??

Ah but when some nutcase Uber driver does some random shooting, the blabbermouth in the WH has something to say. I think this makes 10 or 11 cops killed so far this year and nothing but crickets from the WH. I could not despise a person more than I do the current WH occupant.

My only thoughts today are the family of the slain deputy and his injured partners. I hold all le in high esteem and hope for their safety every day.
Dead suspect is identified with the Occupy movement, long time opponent of foreclosures and evictions. Today's events were over an eviction, he ran for a state senate seat unsuccessfully a couple of years ago, he claimed he was a constant victim of police harassment. Sounded like just another crazy asshole to me.
I'm purposely not using his name-I won't mention it, it's out there so if others want to that's fine.

Am I allowed to agree with this and add it is all by design? The Ferguson Effect is (and was) 100% predictable.
If people can't trust local LE, or local LE is rendered helpless, they can always turn to FedGov.

I hate to trail off this thread, but I agree with you. It is my opinion that Local LE are more likely to side with citizens in a national crisis, or catastrophic event than with the Federal government. I believe this administration knows this.

There's a community gathering 6p at Platte Canyon Community Church to honor the deputy who lost his life as well as the two deputies injured.
The next briefing will be at 5p, I'd expect most outlets to have it live in their newscasts.

My oldest graduated HS with the deputy who was killed, Cpl Nate Carrigan. I've known Capt Hancock for over 20 years. I don't think I know Dep Martin. I'm kind of in shock over the whole thing. It always happens somewhere else...but it really doesn't. What a sad, sad day.

I graduated from the academy with several guys who got hired by Park County. Had the chance to meet many deputies with that agency, every single one of them are friendly, caring people who I would be proud to go on a dangerous call with, or enjoy a summer BBQ with. It's sad, and frankly makes me so angry that the current anti-LE attitude in this nation has gotten so bad. We've buried too many of our brothers, and I often pray for peace. Sadly, a segment of our society doesn't want peace.

Absurd. The guy was an occupy protester. And there was a website calling for supporters to come to his home to help resist the eviction.
If LE agency's aren't already looking at that website prior to serving evictions, they need to start.

You guys bring up some good points. Strange what some people support.
The whole liberal agenda is based on empathy but it's always towards the wrong group/person. Yet in their minds, how can you be wrong if you're empathizing? The hilarity in it all is they hate "the man" but vote to have more of him in their lives.
Anyways, very sad that this is becoming the norm. RIP and prayers for those brave enough to still put on the badge every day.
I was stunned when this it the news, and my heart just aches for his family and his community. Officer Nate had a lot of ties there.

So the Denver Post is saying the Park Co gunman was using a .45 caliber rifle made by MasterPiece Arms. Would that be their Mac-10 looking clone in the carbine version? Only .45 caliber rifle I see on their website but I know nothing about their guns.

First you get notices of seizure, then if you do not comply, they physically remove you. It seems to me that once again, the left is justifying the violence based upon a lack of information.
The article even describes the house as "modest." Sounds like he willfully wasn't paying to me. I have nothing to base that on, but I'm angry he killed people just because he was a dumb a-hole, so F that guy!

exactly, the guy was actually foreclosed on in 2014, been squatting in the house on a technicality for over a year. He told PCSO that he intended violence if they came back to evict him. Nate was a good man, coach, SRO and by all accounts a good dad, Bailey will miss him.

Interesting no talk of scary assault weapons or extended mags. A "pistol" caliber was able to do this. We all know how uninformed the left is when discussing firearms in the context of "sensible gun laws". It is very apparent this does not meet the narrative of the leftest media nor the current administration who publicly stated he would speak out in every instance of mass shootings....crickets in this case.
