Georgia Insurance Company Mandates Office Carry (https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/georgia-insurance-company-mandates-office-carry/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20160226_FridayDigest_18g&utm_campaign=/blog/georgia-insurance-company-mandates-office-carry/)

Not sure that's the gun I'd "issue", but it's cool he's buying every employee one. Sounds like my kinda place.

Cool article, but I am really not for mandating anyone to carry. I am all for anyone that wants to.

I'd rather see the "In Case of Emergency, Break Glass" box containing a long gun, than mandate carry for those who choose not to carry.

If anyone can administer a shock to an unconscious victim laying on the ground, at the command of a computer (AED), then people should have access to other life saving equipment, such as a simple shot gun.

I can't say I'm in favor of making everyone in a population to do anything. It doesn't matter if the issue is universally accepted as a good thing, I just loathe the idea of someone else making me do anything. Doesn't sound very "free" to me.

I generally agree but this is a private workplace and folks are free to find another employer (I am used to hearing that myself). If they want to work in a "gun free zone" there are plenty out there.

I would favor an approach that allows CCW with folks brining whatever they can train with an are comfortable with. Put in the employee handbook and make it known. Maybe even sponsor some training and have company range days (buying ammo for everyone).

Bad guys would never know who is carrying and who isn't. No one would be forced.

I don't like mandated carry any more than I like mandated disarmament.

Mandated = grumble grumble.

I'll go with my current policy: Employees may carry openly or concealed if they choose to do so. Please do not shoot anyone that doesn't need shooting.

Actually he's not mandating that employees carry. He's mandating that they get a Carry Permit, then he gives them one of the stupidest guns made to keep in a desk drawer (nobody is required to carry it on their person or out of the building).

I thought you were going to suggest using the AED on potential bad guys.

Well, since the terms of their employment are voluntary, nobody is actually being forced to do anything.

I think this is a good rule for life in general.

I would attach an AED to someone after they had been shot, good or bad, guy or girl. [Flower]
