Anyone in Strasburg? We are going to make an offer on a house in south Strasburg.

I entered the address at Comcast and Century Link. No internet, what are you using out there for Internet? Don't need crazy speeds, just something reliable.

Any planned expansions or zoning stuff going on in the city that I should be aware of?

No internet? Balderdash! If there's phone service and cable TV there, there has to be internet too. This is 2016, people gotta have it. Ask some of the locals what they use.

I work with four or five guys from Strasburg. I can ask them on Monday. I know they have Internet.

If you own a home in Boulder, couldn't you sell it and afford to purchase the town of Strasburg.....?

Aurora just wasn't far East enough for you eh?

Also, if you get this place in Strasburg, you will have ZERO excuses to not participate in IDPA out at CRC the last Saturday of every month.

Pretty much two choices for internet out here in da 'berg. TDS DSL which is the local phone company or Bijou the phone company in Byers) which is a radio wi fi with a small dish on your house. if you can get line of sight from a tower. I've had both, and am currently on the Bijou one. no issues at all to speak of even in pretty crappy weather. Only annoyance is no support outside of normal M-F business hours But they take real good care of you when you reach them. TV is SAt (DISH or Direct TV) no cable that I know of - although I have heard it said that some parts of town proper have Comcast, but I don't know of anyone who does.

There was an attempt to put in some kind of industrial park thing right off the exit south of I70 (sign is still there) but it's been a couple of years and I think it died. South of the highway is Arapahoe co and North is Adams. Lots of building and proposed building in Bennett around the King Soopers, but nothing really here. Schools good if you have kids, that's why I moved here.

And Irving, it's still a pain to drive to CRC even from out here. LOL

Thx ripper, what speeds are you getting with Bijou? I'm not concerned about television as I work for one and can get satellite at the house.

It will be on 20+ acres in unincorporated arapahoe. Might be dangerous for me having a place I can shoot in anytime I want.

I do have two kids, oldest starting public schools this fall. That is also one of the deciding factors in Strasburg.

You can tell its on my mind as I'm still up thinking about the decision. My wife and I commute to the Denver Tech center daily so that will be a change but having the land and privacy will make it worth it.

For the last 7 years I've had between a 30 and 50 minute commute each way. You get used to it. I find it much more gratifying and useful to listen to good personal development podcasts or audiobooks while I drive, with the occasional "fun" history audiobook thrown in for variety.

Hey Kwando
I live north of town a bit and work in centennial so I take 70 then e470 (eat the toll for the speed) - about 50 min each way in normal weather. I'm getting around 12-14 down and 1-2 up with Bijou for internet, they have a faster package but more $$. TDS was OK but was an issue with distance I lived from switching office and they told me they had no plans to upgrade equipment anytime soon. Bijou just upgraded a ton of equip and actually have a repeater tower less then a mile from the house. I was their test case for that install. lol

Schools are good, good college acceptance and all. Best thing is teachers from elementary school - Middle school - and HS for the most part actually care about the kids. Mine is a pretty high need kid and is doing very well. The average kid out here is pretty polite too, I've had em hold doors open for me at the school OMG! School was a big reason for our move too. If your place is on a dirt road, mud routes will be a part of your planning for sure. They are real good about the buses for the school but will notify you when ever there are weather issues etc.

You can back road it in to town on Quincy if you want, I take it home a lot just to decompress a bit. IMHO it's a good place to live overall. Limited "stuff" like dining and shopping, but working in town it's all good.
