So I decided to return my Eotech and am now in search for another optic. I'd like to keep it around $500.

Opinons?

I'm doing the same. I'm considering the Holusun w/ the new Primary Arms reticle coming out soon.

But, I'm also looking for suggestions.

I haven't tried a ton of different optics, but I like the M21 I'm currently using.

I have been using the vortex sparc 2 pretty happy with the performance. I've always wanted an eotech since I left the military, but for my purposes I couldn't justify that much in a red dot. I got an older one from a friend but it broke after 200 rounds so I sent it to eotech for repairs they just sent me cash back. I picked up the vortex and a magnifier for less than what the eotech would have cost.

When I get my Eotech refund I was going to get another Aimpoint PRO.

Tried my buddys new Trijicon MRO and liked it a lot, now I'm not sure. The MRO does not have much of a track record yet.

On that other site the Aimpoint Pro seems to be the optic of choice.

I was considering the Burris AR-332 or AR-536 but they have mixed reviews.

Just buy something with a good warranty and don't worry haha.

A local store is selling the PROs at a awesome price. Give them a call for their grand (re)opening special. That would be my choice or a micro

PRO or T1/T2. I have a Primary Arms red dot on one of my SBRs but I haven't run it long/hard enough to give it a recommendation.

I picked up a PRO and its pretty nice. Slightly heavier than the micros but still not bad. The MRO's have me interested but not enough reviews on them yet. I'll let them get some user tests out there and go with aimpoint in the meantime.

I prefer my Pro over my T1. But my favorite is the Eotechs. It was not easy sending them back.

Which local store is having the Pro sale? PM if needed. Thanks.

I would also suggest the Aimpoint PRO. Better features, better factory mount than the ACO for ~$50 more.

The SPARC II (and the SPARC AR) seem interesting for the price point, but I have noticed some parallax issues during some pretty extensive testing with the SPARC II.

Trijicon MRO. Right around $500.

My first question is "why did you return the Eotech?"

If it was due to it "just not feeling right" or just blurry, you might have an astigmatism in your eye. If that's the case, try one of prismatic sights. I have a couple of the Burris versions and really like them. I'm sure the Vortex and Leupold versions are good too.

Maybe worth a look, if that's the problem.

I love that we have so many decent options nowadays. Capitalism rocks. I remember a few years ago when it was basically just EOTech and Aimpoint.

1x - Aimpoint
3x - Burris AR-332
5x - Burris AR-536
1x-4x - Burris MTAC

Burris still works without batteries.

I'm currently having the same dilemma. Sent in my EXPS 2-2, should have my check in the next four weeks based on my last email from them. I would like to go Aimpoint but my forty+ year old eyes think I may need magnification. Maybe a 1x6.

I was looking at replacing my EXPS2 with a Trijicon MRO but decided on a on a Green Mountain Daniel Boone instead. The Eotech was just sitting on a shelf.

Another vote for the Aimpoint PRO!!

If you're looking for something with magnification take a look at the Vortex Strike Eagle. While it's bigger and heavier it's awesome, if that's the type of optic you're looking for.

I had already pulled the Eotech off before the thermal drift buy back program. I was going to put it on something else I was building but hadn't yet and sent it back to Eotech. I replaced it with a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 because I wanted one of my rifles to have a dedicated magnified optic rather than a RDS with a magnifier. I love it. Great scope from a great company.

I replaced my eotech with a Sig Romeo 4b ( 2MOA dot and optional on/off 65MOA circle in one unit), really like it's performance so far.

Now that I have received my refund finding a replacement has taken a priority. The more I think about it the more I can't decide.

It seems that a lot of folks are opting to use true 1x scopes in place of red dots these days. It's particularly flexible considering there are options with 1-6x magnification. It's a little bulkier than many of the red dots but I'd say it's less bulky and more practical than those red dots with magnifier setup that some people enjoy. The reality is most who aren't regularly engaged in clearing buildings probably are going to get more benefit out of a variable scope and can get pretty close to red dot capability at close range with one that gets down to a true 1x.

Agreed, that's why my choice of the hour is a setup like the Votex 1-4 above. Of course by lunch I'll probably change my mind again.

Bowers Tactical has a Sig Romeo4b on the shelf for the best price around $295, you can play with it before you decide to purchase it.

The Holosun caught my interest when I found out that Primary Arms is working with them to inlcude their reticles. Which I like. It also appears to me that the Holosun and Sigs are the same units rebranded.

Right on, I'd say Holosun makes Sig Romeo sights to their design and specs.

I am no longer in the military (retired back in 2000) so I am reasonably certain I will not be taking my rifle to Antarctica or Iran/Iraq and hence, there is no scenario that I envision massive temperature shifts. Having said that, I really like the EOTech 1 MOA / 65 MOA sighting system and I chose to continue with them. I did take advantage of the L3 return and used it to return my older 512 model and then when I got my refund, I bought a shelf demo EXPS 3 model so I conserve rail real estate and move to the transverse CR123. I know a lot of guys just dumped their optic and went a different direction and that is fine but just saying that the sight is still very fast acquisition with a wide field of view. Full disclosure, I have a Micro T1 on my SBR to keep it as small and light as possible but I continue with the EOTech on my M4. OK let the flaming begin....[facepalm]

Nor will I but........

The problem I have is that they knowingly sent them to folks going into harms way.

I returned mine.

Update on Vortex strike. Recently did a 3 gun shoot with it. The upside down horshoe was great close up. I hit all the long range targets way easier than with the EOTech. I am very happy with this scope.

Since I stumbled upon a good discount and Midway USA I impulsively bought this setup.
