View Full Version : Looking for pig roast (roast pig, roast hog, hog roast) cooked-to-order

My brother-in-law decided he wants a roast pig for Sunday lunch in a week.
He thought he had a contact in the Denver area, but that fell through. [panic]

He is looking for a turn-key lunch; he wants to do no prep or cooking of his own.
Knowing him, he would be OK with southern US seasoning, Texas, Cuban, or Brasilien.
Asian might be OK, if it is not Chinese or too spicy.
Pickup in Denver metro would be NLT 10AM. Pickup COS or Pueblo NLT 11AM.

(The Mexican market in Colorado Springs by Home Depot sells whole pigs, but does not do/know roasting.
The Asian market in Colorado Springs does not do.
I told him about the Shamrock Food Service Warehouse off Alameda for the meat, but he wants to do *no* cooking.)
---
Does anyone have any recommendations or contacts for a person or company who will do this?
(COS/Pueblo preferred, but Denver possible.)

Thanks,

cobaltskink. :D

Not exactly your area but I use Arapahoe Hog Roaster for my yearly pig roast. While I roast my own they do offer "turn key". Not sure if is enough notice though.

That's not a hog roast, that's a catered lunch.

It isn't a true hog roast unless the hog is still squealing when you bring it home.
The best part is the slaughtering, prepping and the eight hrs. of slow roasting over the pit.

Might as well just go buy a bunch of pulled pork from Costco.

jslo- Thanks for the contact. I will pass it along.

SideShowBob- I would disagree about the "catered lunch".
My B-I-L doesn't need delivery, or setup. or serving.
For now, he does not have the time or experience or desire to do this himself (or learn).

newracer- I mentioned Shamrock FSW to him where he could buy pork butt.
Thanks for your suggestion about precooked pulled pork from Costco.
I will mention it to him so he can go look for pulled pork at Sam's Club.

Thanks for the responses.:)

Ask for Dustin, Lisa or Amanda. tell them a few folks they know referred you

HBARleatherneck- Thanks for your suggestion. I looked in the Colorado Springs Craigslist and found a guy who smokes Cuban hams. *I* may end up buying one from him.
GK- Thanks. I passed along the contact names.

However, as expected, he decided to go with none of my suggestions.
Thanks for everybody's help.

Glad to hear something worked out!
If you ever decide to cook your own, I picked one of these coolers up about 4 years ago.
I make a Cuban mojo marinade using pork butts and turns out perfect every time![emoji482]

Man, I have been wanting one of these for a while but never saw one or knew anyone with one. Works as good it's reputation huh? (drooling...)

Yes it does!
It cooks it perfect every time. Depending on the amount, it's twice as fast as Traditional smokers/cookers are & use a bag and a half of charcoal.I use a digital meat thermometer to make sure it cooked through and maintain the coals, your good to go.
I have found , if cooking a whole pig, start belly up then flip. Usually 2 hours or less a side depending on size.

I occasionally drive by that place, but have never been in. Thanks for posting their menu.

Check out Hong Kong BBQ on Federal. They do whole roasted pig and ducks every day. The crispy pig skin is addictive and I worked through a crispy duck quarter the other day for lunch...amazing. Kind of a dingy hole in the wall but good stuff. A couple of doors down fro, Ba Le Bahn Mi.
