I'm debating on purchasing one of these two suppressors and I'd like to know if anyone has experience with one or both. My requirements are: (1) Target shooting and hunting (2) Multi usage on 5.56/7.62 cal rifles (3) QD using a muzzle brake or other means (3) lightweight

I know some people complain about POI changes, but for me, as long as it's consistent I'll re zero my optics. Not a big deal. Any other helpful info or options you can swing my way is great. Trying keep this thing under $1,300 if it's possible not including more of my $$ to the F'ng Feds. Thanks

I have a AAC 762-SDN-6 and really like it. Depending on what I'm using it on I do notice a slight POI shift. It is consistent though. I use it on all different rifles and it works just fine.

I have the omega. Excellent can. Compact (for a 7.62 can) and lightweight. I'm not sure about POI shift since it is dedicated to a single rifle currently. The ASR mount system seems to work very well if you're looking for QD though it does add a bit of weight. It seems to suppress 5.56 very well and you can get a 5.56 endcap for it. I haven't had the chance to compare the sound difference between the 7.62 and 5.56 endcaps.

Silencer shop is doing a pay the tax stamp on the Halo Ti can. That's $1300ish OTD, less transfer fee. However I'd factor in 2 mounts / brakes for your rifles, so you have an idea what it's costing ahead of time.

ThunderBeast or Silencerco Omega my choices.

Mile High is blowing out SAS suppressors. You could buy two of those for $1300 or less. Give them a call.

My Omega is a beast and very happy with it. It has my vote.

I have a Saker it's nice just wish it was lighter but then it would give up quietness possibly. Either one you choose will be lots of fun!

Are you dead set against direct thread? If so, without trying to derail your thread, genuinely curious as to why?

From what I understand, brake attach suppressors have less alignment issues, and don't erode the baffles as much. I could be mistaken though. I know Zac at TBAC has explained why, in his expert opinion, says brake attach is better. Maybe give them a call.

On Monday I got the rare opportunity to RO for a Suppressor demo. Everything was direct thread attach. I see the benefits and disadvantages to both, but I like hearing others input and reasoning.

My objective is to be able to transfer the can to multiple rifles of differing calibers. It'll cost me more for muzzle brakes for each rifle, but the ease of attachment is what I'm after.

I like my Gemtech Quicksand. It has everything you mentioned you're looking for. Silencershop has them in stock and on sale for $1199.

It is a personal decision but direct thread is the way to go for me. Threads are standardized per caliber. Most any barrel can be threaded. I look at suppressors as not being a quick reaction tool for a gun like a mag. The extra 10-15 seconds it takes to thread on is worth the better usability accross more guns and cost savings. Threads also do not typically go 'loose' like QD's.

Just my .02 cents.

BTW: You can thread adapt from 5/8x24 to 1/2x28 easily and it is obviously removable.

If you are going to move a single can between multiple weapons a lot, I think a QD system is the way to go. Constantly having to reinstall and re-time flash suppressors/brakes is a PITA.
If you are going to leave a can on a particular weapon most of the time then I think direct thread is the way to go. Less complexity, less weight and less cost.

Thank you all for your educated opinions and experiences! You have made my decision very easy. I had a meeting today with Tim at Danger Lee Ent. for more options and first hand knowledge. He threw another option at me that makes more sense from a practical, and eventually, a financial standpoint to go with the Silencerco Hybrid. For only a few more $$ on initial purchase, I will have a Can that will QD on all my rifle calibers AND capable of also attaching to my pistols. I figure the cost of the Can alone will be less than the Tax Stamps for all the suppressors that would traditionally be needed for multiple calibers and platforms.

Good choice, solid logic.

I bought one a few months ago. Supports the ASR QD mount, so it will easily swap out with my Omega. Also, the pistol use is a bonus. The Hybrid uses the same pistons as the Osprey and Octane cans. The Hybrid offers great versatility.
