Jefe's AR

I've had this AK for about 15 years. I think it was the 2nd gun I ever bought. I paid $300 with one ten round mag and a 30 round mag. It was a 'pre-ban' IIRC, which is why I was able to get the 30 round mag. It had the standard SAR wood furniture and I changed it out to some black furniture. Stuff was a bit limited back then and it was questionable about what you could and couldn't change. I shot it quite a bit over the years. It's always been fun and reliable. The only time it hasn't fired was due to bad round. Pretty much exclusively Wolf steel.
Fast forward ten or so years and Magpul came out with some AK stuff. this happened around 2013 when all the new magazine and gun laws started and Magpul moved. I lost interest in firearms due to the quickly rising prices, lack of inventories, and general political state. I felt it was a good time to find a new hobby for a while.
After a few years my passion for guns has come back and the timing is good. Prices have dropped, inventories are really good, and the availability of some really great stuff. I found the Magpul AK furniture and decided to update mine. I went with the folding stock for several reasons. First was so it could fit behind the back seat in my truck. This was better than under the back seat, which would allow for a fully extended stock. Second was that it just looks right on an AK. :D
Everything else was a "it's better than nothing" add on. Meaning that it was originally just gonna be basic iron sites. I decided to put this red dot on it because it was cheap, $73 through Optics Planet, and it had great reviews and a lot of them. "Better than no red dot". I then found the LED flashlight w/ mount for $34 on Amazon. "Better than no light". It came w/ a pressure pad and is bright. The mount works well and can be easily removed. I think they're under $25 now. Was $60. The rail mount was around $50 and works great. It's sturdy, had a quick disconnect, seemed to be the best mount using the factory side rail. You can also field strip the rifle w/o removing it. The sling was one I had in a box and was another "better than no sling". I'm not a huge fan of the single point but again it was better than no sling and, again, seems appropriate for the AK. I would prefer a Magpul sling but they're not cheap. I would like to put a muzzle flash/break on it. Likely a threaded version to accept the eventual suppressor I'm buying for the .308.
