Can you bring your own guns and shoot or is this rent over priced machine guns only?
Awesome! Hopefully I'll get to go

90+ percent of the machine guns at machine gun shoots are post samples, no one wants to ruin there transferable machine guns. I guess Im negative all the machine gun shoots that I have been to have been pretty shitty, shoot and get the hell out of the way I need to take peoples money has been my experience.

I went back in 06 (before ammo went crazy) and dropped a thousand bucks.
worth every freaking penny.
shot everything I could think of and stuff I had not even thought of. (37mm cannon, 20mm Lahiti's, AK's, Uzi, tommy guns, m16, M2's, I mean everything. Even a mini-gun. (which was beyond awesome)
it was a blast. I didn't even know it had shut down for a while, but if you have never been, it's certainly worth going once, you can get all that movie stuff out of your system.

That's not been my experience at all. At one of the shoots we went to here in Colorado the DeGroat guys with the Mini Gun let my younger son run a $200 belt through it for free. If I recall it was a 300 round belt or so...not cheap! My older boy shot an Uzi, a .50 and a few other guns for free. Some of the vendors were busy including guys I know from Tanner and did not take the time to talk, which I'd expect since they had customers lined up.
My kids are a bit older now, late teens and early twenties but I can tell you that the minute they heard there was going to be another shoot they were all over it. I'd also tell you that I usually took one or two neighborhood kids with and we have progun voters for life.
FWIW- I don't think the guys renting guns at the shoot are going broke, but they certainly are not getting rich even considering the cost of post samples. If you consider the cost of licenses, ammo, guns, transportation, helpers and other costs plus the risk or letting someone else shoot a machine gun I'd say they are doing it for fun. Additionally considering they can only rent these a few times a year I can tell you there are much better ways to invest your money. I've never been a vendor there, but I do attend and have lots of fun!

You can get a spot for $200 for 2 people and shoot as much as you like. I have 2 spots for buddies and myself and won't be renting out anything.

interestingly they are having the shoot about 1-2 miles east of where I spent many years shooting on the farm. Road 25 and R
I looked at the facebook page for the shoot and see some former family members (former father in laws family) and farm family names.
I used to get permission from these folks to do P-Dog shooting on their lands. Good people out there.
AWESOME,, knew Bob,,he loved these. Once upon a time I worked for an LPG delivered/mainly service tech. Brought some old 20lb tanks ,purged,,we had comps who could hit them first,,1 Rd ea.
Remember, some big wig was coming into Denver Airport,, State PD came out and shut us down for an hour or 2.

Great news! My grandson and I went in 2007, he was 11 and shot more things than I did. I may not get to shoot much, but I'll be there! Just the Mad Minute of tracer fire at dusk alone is worth it.
I remember the bowling ball mortar guy trying to shoot down one of the RC airplanes, great time out there!
Never been, but you guys have me interested. That looks pretty awesome, and it's more or less local too. I should probably have both the SAW and the MG42 by May... darn you ATF. :)
It's been 9 or ten years since I quit going. Man is it a good time. Me and a buddy went in on a space for around pretty much from the beginning. He was there year one, I started going year 2. The first year I ran real low on ammo. The next year i came prepared. Ended up with a trash can full of spent cases. Then the great ammo shortage, those white tubs for the shells hardly had anything in them. It's not quite as famous as Knob Creek, but it draws lots of folks from out of state with tons of SUPER cool stuff. I'm going to try to go as a spectator. If you want to see a bunch of enthusiastic gun owners, go.

What i like about the MG shooters is how many people own items rabid gun haters would be in a comatose fetal position over.
That NO BODY NEEDS A ROCKET LAUNCHER mantra they have on a hate loop, really shows how wrong they are.

If I can come up with some spare cash I will have to go and check it out. Sounds like this shoot is set up way different from the others.

Darn!
That is the same week-end as the Colorado Gun Collector's Association's annual show. I've already got a table reserved.
Bob McBride used to put on great shoots at Cheyenne Wells and Ft. Morgan.
If I wasn't committed to the CGCA, I would be signing up for a spot!
Y'all remember to bring warm clothes! When we were there in '07 it got mighty chilly when the sun went down and it really got cool with the tracers coming out. Might wanna bring a cooler with food and drinks too. There's food vendors, but with typical selection, quality and pricing.
Oh Hell yeah, I'm gonna be there!

See ya there.
I'll try to remember to wear my COAR15 hat.

When Bob McBride was just getting into .50 BMG stuff, I sold him a bunch of related .50 things at one of the old Tanner shows. Bob was one of the nice guys of the .50 BMG class shooters. He had held a .50 "clinic" down at the NRA Whittington Center for us new .50 shooters. [M2][blaster]
Field report - windy and dusty as hell, not a huge attendance, but a good time nonetheless! Can't wait 'til sundown and the tracer festival!

Thanks for the remote for those of us who couldn't make it.
Wish I could have made it this year. Hopefully next year...
For those who went, post up some pics for those of us who couldn't make it this year.

Talking to organizers today, fri and sat exceeded their expectations after such a long hiatus. My fingers tell me that the guy I was helping load mags Exceeded expections as well. So consensus was things look good for next year. Most individual shooters and several vendors bailed last night, leaving things pretty sparse for today. But attendance was pretty sparse today as well.
We also got our own personal air show. Fri had a B1 flying a training route right over us and sat two f-16s making 4 low passes for our benefit.
Windy all all three days.
Plenty to shoot. Got to try some rare ones- Mauser Brooomhandle went thru mag in a blink. Nice folks out there and Cheyenne Wells is a sweet town. Hope the FD made some $ and it returns next year!
Didn't have a lot of $$$ to spend, only guns I fired were an M2 Carbine and a Sturmgewehr Stg44. I'll put up photos and videos when I get 'em processed.
