View Full Version : Citristrip?
Would using Citristrip (paint remover) on anodized aluminum do harm to the anodizing?
No idea. But lacquer thinner and mineral spirits don't seem to hurt it.

Not sure an SOS pad is a grand idea ... Or flushing the old paint down my sink.

You should really consider using this. I just did on my lower and it was amazing. You spray it on and and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then take a rag and start wiping the paint off.
It leaves a gel residue in the small places but a decent can of brake cleaner takes care of that. I cleaned by lower in about 20 minutes.
thanks for the replies :)

I've used it with no problems.
How did a conversation about strippers stay on topic?
Much disappoint. :(

Ever since Kazoo got laid up, things have stayed on track pretty well. We need that guy and his innuendo mind back here to spoil things up.
Citrastrip may, or may not harm anodizing, but it sure doesn't remove paint very well….as in 'not at all'! [Rant1]
Are you sure it's paint?
yes. was paint. isn't paint anymore…!
(I have this taken care of, no need for further citrastrip info, I'll log this one in my memory though of what not to waste $9 on)

I tried it last night on an upper I had lying around that was Kryloned and it took it off great and didn't harm the anodizing. It didn't work that well on the dust cover though.

What did you use, and how well did it work?
