Some of you may be familiar about this pissing matching between Fireclean and the Vuurwapen Blog, where the blog asserted that FireClean shared the same make up as Crisco oil, and was, thus, crappy. FireClean has filed a federal lawsuit about it
http://soldiersystems.net/2016/03/31/fireclean-llc-sues-andrew-tuohy-and-everett-baker-in-federal-court/
it'll be interesting to see how this shakes out

Interesting. Fireclean will have to release their recipe and all ingredients to refute the testing. Just releasing testing to the contrary I suspect won't be enough.

The tests that were published say that Fireclean isn't Crisco. But it's some form of liquefied plant matter.

And that solidifies that I will never purchase anything from Fire clean.

He talked alot if poop about Kriss Vector too, he trashes anything he doesn't like. Woopeee, welcome to the Internet FireClean. Seems like people are giving him too much power. Did their sales fall off?
Edit: Okay I went and read the article. Seems Vuurwapen has indeed crossed a line by saying they tested it and gave false results. That is defamation and if they suffered those kinds of financial losses I can understand why they're pissed. But how about doing a video or publishing the actual tests they did instead. I don't think Vuurwapen or the blogger are going to be able to financially fill the gap. Perhaps I'm wrong there too.

I read somewhere that they dripped by about $25k a month.

I've never even heard of Fireclean. Is there a tl;dr version, or will I have to look it up myself?

The seven paragraphs in the story were too long?

I purchased a bottle of the stuff a while ago. Before the whole Crisco event. I gotta say, I'm pretty happy with the product in my handguns and my ar platform rifles. Not sure I will buy it again because it is not cheap.

A little off topic but here's an oldie but a goodie on firearm lubrication. I haven't tried the food grade stuff but I'd like to.

Eta: On what works, what sucks and what you never thought about lubricating your firearm with.

I thought that was the details of the law suit and not the back story. I'll read it in full.

I don't know what I was looking at before where I thought you posted something other than the story. Now I feel like a dummy.
Here was the best comment on the article.

I'm glad I only own Glocks and AK's. They don't need lube.

Fireclean denies that its lubricant is made of vegetable oil. They claim - by quoting their patent application - that its made of three vegetable oils.
That's a pertty weak defamation claim. The lawsuit is a pathetic attempt to engage in shuttupery.

Telling you, they are going to have to release the ingredients if it goes to court. Regardless of test results submitted, they are claiming it isn't Crisco but veg oil... That and IR spec analysis just isn't going to cut it. Combine this with the snake oil industry in gun oils and it's a pretty thin defamation suit.
You mean there are other gun lubes besides CLP?

I've never even heard of Fireclean.
Same here.

And if fireclean can prove they are not Crisco (doesn't matter if three different vegetable oils or whatever) then the "truth" affirmative defense fails.
Andrew didn't say it was Crisco. And showing its three vegetable oils (which Fireclean does not really say their lube is, only that the patent application says that), as opposed to one may not suffice if the gist of Andrew's claims were accurate based on the disclosed facts he knew.
