I saw the cracks early. My parents had a fanatical hatred of the middle class and never spoke to them, if possible. In my teens I realized my father hated the wealthy because he wasn’t one. That didn’t stop me being a leftist. It made me want to be a better leftist than my parents. I began to see that class struggle was becoming a scam to get more free stuff. I still sought a perfect form of communism. I met upper middle class leftists and was appalled by their arrogance and snobbery. I traveled the world and did not find any form of communism that did not depend on capitalism to save it from collapse.

The liberal mind is a fascinating churn of totalitarianism, ignorance, narcissism, arrogance, immorality, self-importance, self-righteousness, and jealousy. Certainly there are these kinds of people on the right but they represent a very small percentage whereas these people represent the vast majority of the left.

But there is another reason why it takes time to dig out the leftist brain parasite. A powerful lie lives there. It is the most powerful lie they have. It is that the Left “cares.” You must fully embrace the fact that this is a lie. All leftist “caring” has a hidden agenda.

The prevailing attitude on the Left, regardless of whether we speak of the stratgists, the activists, or the unthinking sheep, is one of moral superiority toward the rest of us. Thomas Sowell has called this “an assumption of differential rectitude.” Its circularity should immediately be apparent: “We are morally superior because we are left-liberals; we are left-liberals because we are morally superior.” They have no other argument for their self-flattering stance.

I’m moved to recount an episode from 2005, (http://www.thedonovan.com/archives/2005/02/if_this_isnt_true_it_should_be.html) after the Christmas Tsunami devastated many Pacific populations:
Today, during an afternoon conference that wrapped up my project of the last 18 months, one of my Euro colleagues tossed this little smart-comment out to no one in particular:
"See, this is why George Bush is so dumb, there's a disaster in the world and he sends an Aircraft Carrier...
After which he and many of my Euro colleagues laughed out loud, and then they looked at me. I wasn't laughing, and neither was my Hindi friend sitting next to me, who has lost family in the disaster.
I'm afraid I was "unprofessional", I let it loose -"Hmmm, let's see, what would be the ideal ship to send to a disaster? Now what kind of ship would we want? Something with its own inexhaustible power supply? Something that can produce 900,000 gallons of fresh water a day from sea water?"
"Something with its own airfield? So that after producing the fresh water, it could help distribute it? Something with 4 hospitals and lots of open space for emergency supplies? Something with a global communications facility to make the coordination of disaster relief in the region easier? Well 'Franz', we peasants in America call that kind of ship an 'Aircraft Carrier'."
"We have 12 of them. How many do you have? Oh that's right, NONE. Lucky for you and the rest of the world, we are the kind of people who share. Even with people we don't like."
"In fact, if memory serves, once upon a time we peasants spent a ton of money and lives rescuing people who we had once tried to kill and who tried to kill us. Do you know who those people were? That's right Franz, Europeans."
"There is a French Aircraft carrier? Where is it? Oh.. Right where it belongs! In France of course! Oh, why should the French Navy dirty their uniforms helping people on the other side of the globe. How Simplesse... The day an American has to move a European out of the way to help in some part of the world it will be a great day in the world, you s******ing little snob..."
The room fell silent. My Hindi friend then said quietly to the Euros:
"Can you let your hatred of George Bush end for just one minute? There are people dying! And what are your countries doing? Amazon.com has helped more than France has. You all have a role to play in the world, why can't you see that? Thank God for the US Navy, they don't have to come and help, but they are. They helped you once and you should all thank God they did. They didn't have to, and no one but them would have done so. I'm ashamed of you all..."
He left the room, shaking and in tears. The frustration of being on the other side of the globe, unable to do anything to assist and faced with people who could not set aside their asininity long enough to reach out and help was too much for him to bear. I just shook my head and left. The Euros stood speechless. Later in the break room, one of the laughing Euros caught me and extended his hand in an apology. I asked him where he was from, he said "a town outside of Berlin". He is a young man, in his early 20's. I asked him if he knew of a man named Gail Halverson. He said no. I said "that's a shame" and walked away to find my Hindi friend.



1. The USA is the greatest country in the history of the world, we volunteer to help those in need. We don't need to be forced or even encouraged, it is something we do and we expect nothing in return.

2. The USA is the only country in the history of the world that was formed with the idea that the government should recognize the natural rights that every single human is born with.

The left seeks to extinguish both of these points of light, and drown the entire world in darkness.

One thing a lot of the media did not report on regarding this carrier group. Which our daughter was on, CVN-72 (VFA-2 Bounty Hunters )
She and other female personnel who volunteered to do On Shore S&R were told No.

Seems word came down there were elements of the local populace who made it known Any Female .Mil who came ashore were in danger of being kidnapped and possibly killed.


For the life of me i couldn't understand (after her e-m) how Christians would do something like that

I don't know where I'd start if I came upon a liberal who was open to hearing a different view. I think I might start with asking if they thought they were born with natural rights or if they think the government grants rights.

There will always be those who are easily seduced by the offer of wealth and unlimited power. But one of the lessons we can glean from an unflinching look at history and human nature is that power-lust inevitably trumps greed. The power to harm others – and to harm others without consequence - is irresistible to a profoundly evil subset of humanity. Real trouble begins when such people acquire power.

We can come up with a long list of those whose outlook regard humankind as little more than chattel, but there are four individuals whose ideas connect the totalitarian dots in some interesting ways. They have a history and the ideas that animate them have a pedigree.




A bold conjecture: that we will descend into a Balkanized nightmare of chaos and destruction as the entitled classes, egged on by the elites, try to cash those very bad checks that liberal socialists and their 'change agent' stooges have written for years and handed out in our schools, churches, culture and inner cities. Those checks - the wages of the sins of class hatred, gender warfare, phony self-esteem and racial division are going to bounce sky high when the goodies they've promised aren't forthcoming. It's the price many of us will pay for both cheering and applauding the transformation of this society into a mob of cannibals and looters, or for simply standing silently by in de facto approval while it happened under our very noses. Some of the fence-sitters, applauders and appeasers may actually understand this and regret their choices in their last few moments as they helplessly watch the mindless mobs their very bad ideas have enabled rape and slaughter their families by the light of their burning homes.

Open warfare in this country is inevitable because there is no reconciliation possible with those who claim that your life simply does not belong to you. You cannot make peace with those who demand not only your economic submission, but your intellectual and spiritual surrender as well. The price of surrender has been and always will be more than anyone of reason and good will can ever care to pay.

The history of communism is open, capital murder. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, PolPot, Mao did not murder in secret, they did it right in front of the citizenry who being disarmed could do nothing about it, any attempt to stop it would have been suicide. We're on that road but the pesky Constitution keeps the (D) at bay.

When I first became politically aware I grew to literally despise the left...the people, the ideals, the mentality...all of it. As I've gotten older and learned more and more of what makes them tick my rage has turned to bewilderment for the most part. As in, "How can someone be so fucking stupid as to possibly think electing someone like Obama or HRC is a good idea?" Seriously.

This was a great essay and I enjoyed it.

Haven't read the article yet, but I'll say that I see it as simple as breaking it down to good vs evil... the left is obsessed with evil- leftist people may not be evil themselves, but they at least allow it to guide them, and some are consumed by it.

That's the best explanation I can come up with why the left embraces Islam, completely turning a blind eye to the ideals within that conflict with their own.

Haven't read the article yet, but I'll say that I see it as simple as breaking it down to good vs evil... the left is obsessed with evil- leftist people may not be evil themselves, but they at least allow it to guide them, and some are consumed by it.

That's the best explanation I can come up with why the left embraces Islam, completely turning a blind eye to the ideals within that conflict with their own.

They're fucking hypocrites plain & simple. "They" embrace islam, yet decry those opposed to same sex marriage as racist homophobes.

Imagine every "progressive" being required to live with a sharia law mindset family for a few days. They'd be out, trowel in hand, working on that southern border wall.

I see it as who do they see as the bigger threat to their agenda, narrow minded, bigoted muslims bent on world sharia or US citizens that don't swallow the left's Kool aid. You can tell a lot about a movement by who they choose as their enemy.
