Thought about it. Not sure about attending as it's gotten too crowded for my tastes and I haven't had time to attend their training sessions for volunteers.

I'll be there, look for the 501st Legion tables in the Star Wars Experience area and there's a good chance I'll be hanging around. We'll be doing photo ops for donations to CO Make A Wish and the R2-KT auction on Saturday (IIRC) will benefit them as well. The Umbrella Corp guys should be there too and their fundraising usually goes to a veterans charity.

Inara, Agent Coulsen, Rory the Roman and Jess (martin kove) from an short lived tv show. Hard Time on Planet Earth. Which was a great show but like Firefly, never found "that audience". Depending on schedule we'll try being there.

And Stan Lee...considering he is well in his 90s this may be one of the few times to meet him before he is gone.

Going again but not too keen on the GLBTQ focus this year. Received multiple emails from Comicon expressing how excited they are about uniting with Gay Pride weekend and the big gay wedding and "queer" ( not me, their wording) in Sci-Fi. Guess I like my Green Lantern straight- dont wave it in my face- no pun intended. Was amazed at last years event when a bearded 6'3" Wonder Woman strolled around and got more requests for photos than real hotties. I'm old. I remember when it was $10 for a weekend and the stars walked around for free. Met Tom Baker, Scotty, Chekov, etc. no charge for autographs way back when. Today? About $60. I know what you mean but I can't blame the stars when they see stuff they autographed going for solid money on eBay. I liked the first year when DCC was really about the comics and you could wander around the tables and talk to the creators. 2 years ago, I had to spend 4 hours in line for a signature from George Perez (as opposed to just ducking into his table with no line during the first year). Now it's more of a multi-media fest and the comics seem to be somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of the overall event. I'm also a bit perturbed by the way the founders were ousted.

I didn't realize it was overlapping with gay pride or whatever. That really opens up my options for a costume. Lol.

I remember that Wonder Woman. The thing is, LGBT seems to be everywhere now, and I'm not about to let it wreck our fun. Especially when there are so many great stars to see!

One of the things I really love about the Con is that there are so many parents bringing their kids. It's heartwarming to see all the little princesses and all the little Spider-Men get so excited about all of the costumed people. :)

My wife has expressed interest, but neither of us read comics, or have seen any of the comic book movies. Would this still be an enjoyable event? We wouldn't be waiting in any lines for anyone or anything. Are there other things to do, or is it mostly people watching?

As I said earlier, comics are now less than half the convention. A lot of it has shifted in focus to multimedia so you have a lot of video-related material there, mostly fantasy & science-fiction, some anime. Autographs for the big stars or getting into they big name speeches will require standing in line anywhere between 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Vendors will carry tee-shirts, costumes, bathrobes, light switches, signs, etc. Pretty much anything you can think of that's related to fantasy, science-fiction, comics, anime, or anything else that requires prolific use of your imagination. That will probably include people who still believe Hillary Clinton didn't send classified information on her email server and that Obama is the greatest president of all time.

A lot of the comic book creators there will have their artwork on display and/or for sale. They usually have Neal Adams and George Perez (for us old farts that remember when comic books were great) as well more contemporary artists like J. Scott Campbell, Nei Ruffino, etc. Nei is an odd but nice girl ... she is an AMAZING colorist.

However, I suggest saving your money if you don't like crowds, aren't into F/SF, and the sight of a Wonder Woman costume on a guy hairy enough to play Wolverine bothers you.

It's not exclusively comic book stuff, although there is an element to it that has a lot to do with comics. It's billed as a "pop culture event" which means you'll see a LOT of stuff to do with popular culture: Lord of the Rings, Halo, Resident Evil, Archer and so on. I was going to dress as Carol Burnett's Scarlett O'Hara, but it may be too crowded to control the curtain rod. :( People watching is a very rich past-time, but there is a lot of stuff being sold; there are panels to enjoy, autographs (that does entail standing in line) and the center of the hall is devoted to children's activities, such as reading and drawing/coloring, etc. Last year, Friday was incredibly crowded and busy, so keep that in mind. Every year seems to increase by about 20,000 people or so.

if you go, do yourself a favor and make sure your wife carries a cross-body bag. Her hands will be free, and she won't need to worry about losing anything in the crowd. Carry cash, because there are only 3 ATMs (unless they're decided to get some more) and if you want autographs while you're there, it's the only way to pay for it.

He can get 3-day tickets if he goes online to Denver Comic Con's site, and clicks on 'tickets' and buys them through Axs. They're still available.
