BullsEye LLC - [fail] (this is for those of you who do not want to read the entire post)

I wanted to share my experience with Brandon at The Bullseye LLC in Aurora (http://www.thebullseye.net/). I will try to keep the details as accurate as possible but a lot of time has passed and I don't have all the messages saved anymore. I also might do some timeline editing once I get home and check the actual approval dates. First off, he is a very nice guy and I got some pretty decent deals from him (Ruger 22/45, AAC TiRant 45M and a SiCo Spectre II). He was able to get very close to Silencershops pricing, so to me, the extra money was worth supporting a local business. He is a home based FFL out of Aurora.

It started in November 2015 when I purchased the Spectre II and the 22/45. I drove down to Aurora and purchased both items with cash. After mailing him my paper work the next day; I asked if he received it a week later and he said nothing has shown up. I waited a few more days and he still said nothing came in. After about two weeks he finally says he has it and its going out that day. Snail mail from CO to CO is no more than a few days, at the latest. After checking my account periodically, I see the check has not been cashed. I asked him numerous times what was going on and it felt like I was getting the run around. He finally tells me they are backlogged and processing forms slow. One thing I've learned about the ATF is they are very quick to get their money and slow to return it. After about six weeks, he finally gets back to me and says the ATF did not like that my check and form had different dates? Maybe true, maybe not. So I redo the form, write another check, stop payment on the other check and resubmit my paper work to him. A week later it gets cashed.

That should have been a red flag but fast forward another month and he offers me a TiRant 45M for a good price. I accept and purchase it. He says he will have the serial number in a few days once paid for and we can start paper work that week. I pay the very instant he bills me and it's the same story all over again. Not returning messages and no communication. After about 4 weeks, he gets back to me and says he is ready to get the paper work going. I fill out the paper work and submit.

March 23rd, I ask him if anything has been approved. He responds and says "checking now." A few minutes later he says "nope no approval yet." March 29th he contacts me and says both forms have been approved and are ready to be picked up. Seems kind of odd that both are approved with different submission dates but the ATF is strange like that right? I ask when I can pick them up and no response. I ask him again on the 31st if I can setup a time to pick them up, no response. I send him a few more messages as days pass with no responses or very short replies. I would ask him "Can I get those picked up this week" and instantly he would reply "yes." Then I would ask what day works for him, no response. Long story short, this goes on for about two weeks with no replies to any of my messages or short replies but never committing to when I can get them. Finally he calls me April 16th and tells me I can pick them up that day and I leave from work to get them. Finally in my possession at last!

I get home and review my forms to find out my Spectre was approved February 2nd and my TiRant was approved March 21st (dates might be off a few days off as I am doing them by memory). He blatantly lied to me when I asked if either of my forms had been approved and he said no after 'checking' them. I was going to call the ATF myself when I had time to check status but he got back to me before then telling me they were approved so I never followed up. All and all, none of this was a 'huge' deal but the lack of communication and respect has cost him my business. After getting the run around in the middle of all this I asked a friend who purchased a suppressor from and BIG SURPRISE! Same story of not returning messages, form being approved for a month or two and him not being notified and difficult time in getting it picked up. I understand that he is a home based FFL and may not have the time that the brick and mortar stores do but there is no reason you cannot communicate with someone. Had he said he was going to be busy the next couple of weeks after they were approved, I wouldn't have been bugged by it. In my eyes, the dealer is supposed to handle this entire process; I pay for the said item, give him my paperwork, he calls when it is approved and I pick it up. Never again will I purchase an item from a dealer that is not recommended from this board or a vendor. That or I will just keep shopping online because my first suppressor for Silencer Shop was completely painless. In closing, I received my items so I am happy in the end. It just sucked that I had to babysit the process and keep following up to pick up my items that paid for and I was at his mercy.

He's cool, but he does need to work on his communication skills. He reads a lot of my facebook messages but does not respond. Let's just say apparently my friends form 4 took 12+ months to approve through Brandon

Similar experience here. Nice guy but communication after the purchase/approval (suppressor) was lacking.

We know brandon from bullseye pretty well, in fact, he helped us with setting up our 07/02, ITAR etc. He works for some kind of govt agency full time and does the FFL out of his home in his spare time. Understandably, it always takes him longer to respond to us too. It sucks that you went through bad experience. Some of those delays are simply bad customer service. Keep in mind, he prices his firearms and NFA items real low which in turn may have overwhelmed him. Bottom line, he is a very nice guy who's overwhelmed by his own 'kindness.' We have had our love and hate thing going on for 3-4 years now.

At the end of the day, he is still one of our buddies who deserves our support. YOU HEAR ME BRANDON! I just sorta defended you. Where are our cans! JK, love you bro.. seriously, where are the cans!!

I've only purchased in-stock firearms from him but I've always left happy.

Reading back on my post, I thought I included this. I believe SOME of the delay was due to him being overwhelmed because of his pricing and how much inventory he moves. It can be good and bad for the customer. He sells in more bulk style so the prices are lower but on the other hand, he cannot keep up, so the customer gets left behind. As I said earlier, he is a home based FFL and may not have the time other stores do which is fine but he might need to get a grasp on it soon as it seems this more common than not.

Like I said in my OP, he was never rude and is in fact a very nice guy and a pleasure to deal with face to face. After that, it kind of goes out the window. This post is not intended to cause him to lose business or scare others away. Just my personal experience on a couple of transactions with him.

He's got magic hands, what can I say?

For a home based FFL, he DOES has the best prices in town. He is human and has a life, so in between his 9-5 and his family (he has 5 kids that he knows about, prob more out there on the loose) he has to try to make ends meet on his side job. He is slow to responding sometimes, he owns up to his mistakes, but I still use him for my NFA items. I've had no problems with him. I just bought two cans from him last week when a huge shipment of dead air cans arrived. He has always contacted me the same day my forms arrive.

Oh come on Ken! I know you were stirring the pot!! :) Jk! I know you weren't and my post was not directed at you. Just wanted to be clear on my OP so others know the small details. In fact you agreed that you have been in the same situation as me with him. Your post did remind me that I forgot to include those details about him probably being overwhelmed with the amount of business and I did want to mention that. Plus I wanted it clear he was very nice. I have seen him sell some pretty cool NFA stuff along with other stuff that other dealers can't get. Plus as mentioned before his prices are very good.

I've had a few dealings with Brandon now. I'm actually going to meet him this evening to pickup a few goodies and get the forms filed for a few NFA items.

I ordered a lower from Brandon that's been sitting at his place for a year. Not because of him but because my life got so hectic I hadn't been able to pick it up. I contacted Brandon about the lower and asked if he still had it and explained that I understood if he sold it since its been an entire year since he received it. Brandon still has the lower and Now we're making it into an SBR.

Brandon has been nothing but good to me, he can be slow to respond at times but that's to be expected since he does this as a side gig and offers better pricing than Buds on most of his stuff.

Just saw this and checking out the website (the prices are awesome), I need to get him in touch with a friend of mine who does website design- that site is difficult as hell to view with the dragging banner.

Yeah, I agree RE: the website - but the prices ARE awesome and Brandon is a stand-up dude! I've bought a couple from him, always a great experience, and he really takes good care of a friend of mine who has bought a few more than I from him.

I might explore purchasing something through him if everyone is boasting about how good of a guy he is... And can't argue with extremely competitive prices! Although I've never had a bad experience with 5280 Armory and consider myself a life-long customer of theirs- it would almost feel like cheating, since I've purchased my last 6 guns from them.

Anyone know what happened? Got to big for his britches I presume? I can only think the gun community didn't stand for his practices anymore.
