Ok if your not tired of hearing about these. Finally made it out tonight after work for the first range session. Zeroing scope and doing the shoot one then clean break in process. This is a 6.5 Creedmoor. Wasn't really trying for accuracy as the shoot one then clean is a pia. But things were looking good so I did a 5 shot group. Measured just under .4 inches at 100 yds. I was using factory Hornady 120's. Guess I'll keep it.

I keep day dreaming about one, but I have too many other projects and irons in the fire.

Currently sitting on pennies and watching for a bigger lathe. Hoping to find a 13x40 or bigger. I'd really like a 16x60, but those are harder to find in good shape for a reasonable price.

Just the factory 6.5CM barrel I assume and not an LRI since there was no mention?

As it came out of the box. I added scope, rings and bullets.

Your results seem to be the norm for out of box accuracy @ 100 - 400 yds.

I want to see how the groups open up after a few groups in somewhat rapid succession. Note that I'm talking about just an afternoon of shooting and NOT full auto-esque mag dumps. Just normally shooting of a few boxes of ammo at the range type thing. From what I hear that's why most scrap the factory barrel in favor of better offerings from LRI. They shoot wonderful groups but things open up a noticeable amount after some prolonged trigger time. I hope I'm wrong as I've been waiting for a killer deal on a 6.5CM factory RPR but from what I keep reading I may just pop for a killer deal on whatever I can get my hands on (likely 308) and then swap out the barrel for what I want. If they did something different to the factory barrels that makes them viable that saves me some coin.

The factory barrels seem fairly consistent. The LRI barrel really isn't all that expensive and I figured I can use the factory for some time before I start to out shoot the barrel. Only 20 rds through it at this point so I'm going to need to see how it breaks in. Franks work was pretty good and with that and what others are seeing replacing the handguard with a Seekins may be the next move. The handguard seems to be primarily an issue when putting stress on it from a bipod. The safety wiggles a bit but doesn't overly bother me. The bolt shroud sounds more cosmetic then a functional issue but I've heard of one or two causing issues. The stock is serviceable but I'm on the fence. You definitely need to make sure its all tightened down correctly, and no I didn't. I always have better plans than execution so will try to hold off doing too much until I see how and for what I really end up using the rig. I do have a APA little bastard brake on the way as well as another brake for my suppressor. I'll be doing a baseline with all the combinations to see which I'll end up using.

What's a good price on one in .308 that's got less than 50 rounds through it?

I just picked a used one up in .308 on this forum. $1200 and had an Atlas bipod, LRI bolt shroud, couple mags.

With the extra stuff that's a good deal.

Prices range kinda widely, if a bit patient should be able to get new at I thought sportsmans for like $1100, I was really patient and got one for much much less but that was 6 months.

People I think are picky a little about used precision stuff, if it's basic stock .308 with a few rounds through it I'm sure 1000 would go fast, and 1100 with a few days wait. /random guess.

I had similar results with my Gen2 .308 variant. I was impressed. This does not have the fit and finish of my SSG3k, but will likely replace it for the ease of getting parts, and the trigger while looking a little funny is really quite nice.

Ruger has definitely figured something out.
