So i see Yeti is the "must have" for the up and coming hipster [LOL]
However i get turned on to these as a comparable alternative. Anyone have experience with the RTIC cooler?

The RTIC isn't in this list, but the article may help

My buddy got an RTIC tumbler and it works awesome. I don't know anyone that has tried their coolers though.

I find it very amusing that a cooler that started out being marketed and sold to the hardcore hunting and fishing community has migrated to being accepted by the "pajama man" gang and is now prominently featured at REI.

Have one of the RTIC cups, gal in office has the yeti. I'd say it's just as good for half the price

Eddie Bauer, Abercrombie & Fitch, to a lesser extent, Orvis (at least they still sell fly rods and shotguns)

My $7 ozark rumbler from Walmart is identical to my coworkers $40 yeti. Same performance also, there's a guy on FB that did a comparison. Yeti is suing Walmart also
Odd as I was just looking at these. We used yetis and an rtic and my mister igloo and a couple Coleman coolers for a big trip. Yeti and rtic are the best built, best latching and hinge systems. Wasn't long enough to know which would have done better but they are almost identical in quality and construction.
my neighbor had the hopper and I've been beyond impressed with that thing on numerous occasions. Yeti will always be impressive but I think the technology is there with all the similar designed coolers.
i think I'm going to order an Rtic 65 and the 30 can hooper version and see how they do.

Similar, with no RTIC though.

I know a couple FFLs that stock RTIC gear even though they don't have a dealer program. They say it's basically identical, and a great option. Definitely high end coolers are super popular lately. Go figure.

I'd be pretty careful of any "study" where the range of scores for 11 items was 80-87 out of 100. That's an awfully tight range of scores.

Anyone have a Pelican? I like the warranty on those better than the Yeti....

M buddy has the yeti soft sided travel thingy. Incrediblly durable and keeps stuff cold for a long time. Even the zipper on the thing is impressive. Glad he shelled out the $ for it and not me. Damn things are spendy.

My brother in law (who lives in south Texas) Loves his. He has both Yeti and Pelican, the Pelican keeps beer cold the longest :)
I'll have mine tomorrow according to the tracking info. I ordered about the 2nd week of March. They gave me an estimated ship date of May 22 so I wasn't expecting so soon. I have the RTIC tumbler and I love it. 2 nights ago I filled it full of ice and water, drank half of the water and set it on my night stand. This morning I noticed it still had a little ice floating in it. When I read this thread I went and checked the tumbler. Ice is gone but the water is still cold enough to be pleasant to drink. So it kept ice for 36 hours. I'll post my impressions when I get the RTIC 65 cooler tomorrow.

How many AK's you own;)
For the money, for the use it will get it's the RTIC so far. IMO That's more than i've paid for all our coolers combined. BUT... with a road trip or 2 on the calendar might as well splurge, within reason.

I got a 65q Pelican last spring and it's great. Holds block ice for 8-9days with ease, handles are big and sturdy and the latches are much more secure. , Got it off of Amazon for $290.00 with free shipping (Prime). http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-ProGear-Marine-Insulation-65-Quart/dp/B008HGKKZ4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1461894111&sr=8-7&keywords=pelican+20qt
Best thing is it'sMade in USA unlike Yeti that's made in China like most of the other similar coolers. I have several friends / relatives that have Yeti's and a few with Pelicans and the Pelicans are a much better product.

WHERE ARE YOUR COOLERS MANUFACTURED? Our Tundra coolers are manufactured in the USA at facilities located in Iowa and Wisconsin as well as at a facility located in the Philippines. Our Hopper coolers are manufactured in China. Want a YETI made in the USA? Call us at (512) 394-9384 (tel:5123949384) and we’ll make it happen.

Huh...... I didn't know that they had mfg in the USA. My comment was based on labels I saw on smaller items.
Not trying to start a pissing match but read the product details.

I can not resist this one...
Since I have relocated here to the south, I have learned that "Yeti" is not a bike, but a cooler manufacturer. As such, "yeti" stickers are as much proudly displayed as the Browning deer and NASCAR...
Sorry no help, but I had to share!

With that in mind. Maybe i'll start a GOFUNDME thread to help cover the difference between the two.
Can i put you down for a modest $20 donation. Let's get the ball rolling now.

Might as well, seems to be the way of today, not living within means, soliciting donations for recreational activities. Why not for a cooler... [Beer]

This^^^. I have had a Pelican for a few years. I've used it quite a bit, wouldn't trade it for anything. If you keep an eye out Costco has been selling them almost every spring/summer for two years now.

While i appreciate the "assistance" you all know unless it was an extreme emergency. I can carry my own weight, thanks. Besides i'd start selling stuff before i needed help.

I absolutely know you wouldn't take advantage of "donations", I was just speaking on the general forecast of the new age.

This was a big thread on the ESEE forum around Christmas time. I bought the 30 oz. Rctic tumbler and couldn't be happier. Half the price of the yeti and does the same thing in my opinion.. The Ozark's from Walmart are also in contention now.
We've got a large Pelican. Plenty happy with it. Keeps ice for a ridiculous amount of days. Went to Washington state couple of years ago with it full of ice, I think we added a bag on the way home to what was still in there. That was a 9 day trip. The inside volume compared to the outside dimensions are startling. That is a whole lotta insulation!
I have the yeti and it has held up well. I think I may sell them and buy a pelican though. They are well build on wheels and just as stout.

No kidding, if I need a beer to stay cold for 2 hours, I'm doing something wrong. I can drink a full beer on a 10 minute ski lift.

Not sur ehow coolers went to cups. Anyway i'm getting the RTIC. Not paying 2x for something we'll use 2-3x a year. it's for food storage, not beverages. thanks for the input.
FWIW: Grizzly does offer a .mil / LE / FD discount. Unfortunately the $30 S&H still puts it up there for a smaller cooler.

Interesting topic with so much political fodder questioning why stuff can not be made in America vs elsewhere and our own purchasing decisions.
You'll be happy with it. I got mine and super happy with it. Very well made and built like a tank

I only have a experience with the Yetis. My previous job with Ensign Energy put them in all of our work trucks and I will say, those things are tough suckers. As you can imagine, oil field is very hard on stuff and those coolers were constantly getting abused. Used as tables for tools, stuff put on top them, rolling around back and forth and being stored outside in the back of the trucks 24/7 exposed to the elements. The only time we had to replace them is when the generators exhaust was pointed at them and would burn a hole clear through.
