Some of you guys may know that occasionally LA Police Gear (http://www.lapolicegear.com/) offers "Mystery Bags". For $15 (plus shipping, so $20ish) you get a "Mystery Bag" which might contain an Aimpoint or this time around possibly an $1800 Night Vision scope ... or a knife ... or a flash light ... or some freeze dried Mac-n-Cheese.
A friend of mine sent me a link when one popped up a few weeks ago and I was in a saucy mood so I ordered one and it came today.
Not too bad, got a hat, flask and "pocket trauma kit" (which'll go nice in the pack I carry when we go hiking in the mountains).

Anyone here ever "won" anything great in one of these? Any other online distributors do something like this?

I've only ever gotten ripped off with shitty stickers, patches, and the like. Took three times to learn my lesson, but I'm done. Your haul is markedly better than anything I've ever gotten.
Yes, thats a pretty good get. Never done it though.

It's a clever way for them to get rid of aging inventory.

That.
I think there are some rare good ones, but I ordered 2 and they were just random junk that looked like they were clearing off their shelves. A few guys on another board had the same experience. I won't ever buy one again.
I tend to not spend money on crap I don't need. Most of the time.

Are you kidding? They are gonna put that on my tombstone.

Hey, I put a disclaimer in there when I said "most of the time."
