View Full Version : Best place to get a Busse?
Howdy gang!
been drooling over the thought of one of these for a while! A couple of friends have had them and now I am on the hunt! Anyone know of any websites or stores that may stick them? From everything I've read, ordering direct from Busse can be very difficult as they only manufacture certain knives for certain periods of time. I'm looking for a War Train or something similar? I'll post something up in the WTB forum to on the off chance that somebody here is looking to sell one. If any one has navigated these waters before and has advice, I am all ears!
So just in case anyone else I'd interested in these guys, I figured some stuff out that may be common knowledge to some of you, but is news to me.
- they release 3-5 new designs each week and after that week those designs are done and will not be produced again in that same configuration.
- when you place an order with them they currently expect approximately a 16 week wait from order to completion.
- the only way to purchase discontinued models is to find them used.
- one of the better ways to do that is to use the Busse and kin special for sale thread on www.bladeforum.com (for which there is a link on the Busse website)
hopefully this his will help somebody out. The kind lady at Busse combat informed me she expects the next run of models to be up on there website on Wednesday.

Don't forget eBay, but also expect not to get a deal on one either.

WOW for the price of that war train I could buy a truckful of ESEE knives. But that's just me. [Coffee]
That is true! That one was a custom finish, the normal battle ready war train I think was only in the $400ish range, much more reasonable. The pricing is a bit rediculous, but most of the people I know who have had them, swear by them. And to boot they have an unlimited life-time warranty. $500 is a lot to spend on a knife, but if you only have to buy it once it might be worth it! FYI, I know with my addictive personality I probably won't stop at one [Coffee]

See you found the Blade Forum. This forum is specifically for Busse, Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard knives (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/804-Busse-Swamprat-Scrapyard-Knives-For-Sale) that are for sale.
I have a few Busse's that include the Anniversary Straight Handle Battle Mistress, Team Gemini and Sarge 7 plus a few of their smaller knives. They are exceptional knives but prices can go nuts once Busse stops production.
Yeah, I'm learning that the hard way! I'm hoping they do a fusion combat ready battle mistress again.

Only thing I don't like about Busse is the painted blades. Mine have either the satin or double cut finish which is the natural color. Battle Mistress is a beast of a blade, which I have just sitting in the closet. If you are interested, let me know and I'll send you some pictures.

I agree, I have a team Gemini that the blade is cerakoted and wish it wasn't.

That is one thing i have noticed, when pounding a blade through a log, even cerakote doesn't stand up. I prefer the satin finish as well. Thanks for the heads up Marine 24, i sent you a pm.

Bladeforums and jerzeedevil.com are great places...I had a battle mistress and sold it...think I have a sar5 left in the safe...Jerry is a great guy...You might check out swamp rat knives as well...
Stick around and you will get plenty of aBusse. Sorry, couldn't resist. [Coffee]
Not really a fan of Busse but they do have a rabid following. For the Busse prices, I'd look into MadDog knives. Not as flashy but solid steel.
My preference runs more toward RAT/EESE, Graymon and Greco. YMMV
No doubt there are other companies out there with phenomenal products. I have blades from Spartan, Reeves and my current favorite is my Top Knives Tom Brown Tracker. I think what i am finding most appealing is that INFI steel and how they stand by there products with their warranty.
