Got a collection notice from Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP today to the tune of $50.00. The account summary has my name and license plate #. There is no description of the vehicle, no dates or any other info.

Did a little research and found a lot of POed people but not any recourse. Most the stories sound the same. No bill, no date of incidents, just pay.

Now the interesting part. The license # does belong to me but that vehicle has not been on the road for almost a year. Secondly, the new plates with the correct license # have never been put on the vehicle.

Do I call these people, write them, hand it over to my lawyer...? I will be writing a letter to the attorney general.

I don't travel between Boulder and Denver very much. Is all of 36 a toll road or just the left lane?

What's your time worth?

Northwest Parkway is not 36.

Northwest Parkway is E-470 between 36 and 25.

I drive E-470 to go to and from work. I know E-470 and the Northwest Parkway are two separately own toll roads that are connected. If they're like E-470 customer service, give them a call and clear things up. That's all I got. Good luck.

Linebarger (or Limburger cheese as I call them) are a local collections law firm. So in theory they could sue you for the amount or put it on your credit report. I think that I would file an FTC complaint if they did put it on your credit report myself. You may wish to check.

You won't be able to use it without getting a collection once you pay it. The account stays in collection for a month after paid. Northwest parkway billing sucks donkey.

What's your time worth?

Which is why they send out so many of these bogus bills. People pay them and move on.

Check Google reviews- this is a common practice/scam. According to one of the people commenting, they've been reported to the Colorado AG's office. It may behoove you to call the AG, and check with them as to the legitimacy of this.

I got a notice from the ez toll folks (not a collections co.) years ago for a car that had AZ plates, but the exact same plate number as me. Could this be the same thing? Maybe ask to see the photo of your plate.

I assume you could quickly and easily check the validity of the claim with Northwest Parkway.

Thanks for the advise.

My time is worth more but it's the principle.

Sounds like AFNI! Every couple years they try to scam me out of $600 without being able to produce in valid oaperwork showing i ever owed the original company. They put it on my credit report and try to collect then i argue and they take it off for a couple years. Last time they called i cut her off and told her to speak to my attorney and gave the name and number and i havent heard anything in 3 years now. Its ridiculous that companys can get away with this crap.

My motorcycle kept getting billed (wasn't riding it in the dead of winter) so I called express toll ... they pulled up the photos and said it was a flatbed truck ... the automatic license plate reading software was having issues differentiating the Q in the truck plate vs. the O on my bike (other 5 digits identical). They put a flag on my plate that now requires a human to interpret the photo anytime my bike plate comes up. Not a problem since.

Express toll may work with you and to he!! with the collection firm ... sounds like you have one of those automatic billing issues.

I got a notice today stating that I had received a no front plate ticket in Denver on a vehicle that hasn't moved from storage in Golden in over 4 years on 1/13/13. Given that I was in the ICU at Denver health on that date, I think I'm going to make a phone call Monday...

Is there a flaw inherent in the system?

Is there a flaw inherent in the system?

Other than send out notices and get paid if people don't protest, and if they do, just say it was an error and delete it? Collecting money all along the way for nothing.

Its not a bug, its a feature ... as has been stated before, lots of people would rather just pay it instead of fight it.

Only if you think Denver Parking Bureau's crooked ticket writers are a "flaw".

What spqrzilla said.

What Denver and some other municipalities are doing with parking is atrocious. Frankly, the red-light cameras are fine with me. The $h!t I see every day makes me wonder how anyone makes it safely through an intersection. It's RED, get over it, if you're that late, it's because you didn't start early enough. Your fault. Nut up.

I used to be vehemently against red light camera's, the way people blatantly run red lights anymore, I'm starting to have a different opinion of them.

That's what I'm saying. The sounds we hear from the nearby intersection of Harmony and Timberline are horrendous. You chose poorly. You made yourself late. You suck. Get over it, nobody should have to die because you can't drive, or manage your time.

You guys would make good citizens in the George Orwell's fictional novel 1984.

Red light cameras do not make intersections safer. There are many studies out there to support that claim. Red light cameras are a cash cow for s---head politicians that work against your and my freedom, but above all else red light cameras are illegal and unconstitutional.

Maybe if they didn't shorten the yellow time to catch more people. Then again, is it really a deterrent?

"Do not contact me to collect this debt." are trigger words to a debt collector.

They're probably still in their safe space, afraid to come out.

I used to get bills in the mail all the time (from actually using the toll lane), but now since I've switched vehicles I haven't received a single bill. I'm getting worried.

Looks like they've been slacking on sending me bills...
