This rig is awesome! Someone needs to buy it. If only I could convince my wife.

Since Walmart parking lots are RV friendly, that'd be fun to set up in the parking lot.

It's an easy $80k cheaper than an earth roamer. The ol lady's gonna retire soon. She's been eye balling the roamers, but way out of our 1% lifestyle. This is cheaper than a winnebagel, AND.....a much higher cool factor.mmmmm

The pop up camper on that thing is 21 years old, and would almost certainly have issues unless the 1995 date is a typo.

2000 mile range, huh? Driving that thing 2000 miles would be about as much fun as a root canal with no anesthetic. I'm assuming there's no stereo system in the cab because you won't be able to hear it anyway.

The math says that thing will be getting over 18 mpg, which I find difficult to believe.

I"m pretty impressed with what he's showing in the pictures. I"m kind of curious how it gets a 2000 mile range with a 110 gallon tank ... I was kind of thinking more like 200 miles ... LOL

Ad of course, as a 1989 model truck, it shouldn't have any of those fancy electronic doodads that let the gubmint track your travels (if that's of concern).

If I had a place to park something like that, it would be really fun to think about ...

I love the "mother-in-law facilities" on the video. [ROFL2]

Why would they need them? That thing is about as inconspicuous as a whore in church. Hell you can probably see it from space.

I had the opportunity to drive M900 series trucks while I was in the military. Imagine trying to maneuver something that size through the narrow cobble-stone streets of your typical German village.

Let's just say the novelty wears off pretty quick. ;)

Oh, and the CTIS was a total PITA. All the ones we had were constantly being deadlined because of CTIS problems. Nothing like driving down the Autobahn at 45 mph and all of a sudden your tires want to go to 5 psi.

I've known some church going women . Without their clothes off and a few cocktails, one would never know they were "whores". Still worth guessing which one would be the one most likely to ;)

That camper looks like a Hi-Lo

I'd be interested seeing if parking enforcement could see my Handicap tag from street level. Even better watching a hooker try maneuver around trying to tow it

This is a serious BOV.

I have to admit, this is pretty full of awesomeness. Practicality factor....well that might be a good debate.

With 155 gallons of fuel (with all nine 5 gallon jerry cans), I would still question 2000 mile range, but I have been surprised before.

40K, I think this is a pretty good bargain considering what my Keystone Outback camper cost, but I would not use this as a bug out vehicle.

The camper looks like a Trailmanor 2720SL. I have been searching for a used one. They are not cheap new.

I had a military CUCV blazer with a stereo system. Extra insulation was added to help with noise reduction. Even at max volume there were times I couldn't hear the radio at all.

The video says 1) the jerry cans are for water, not fuel, and 2) they have taken care to sound-shield the motor so it's not as loud as the usual military system. I still want to know what magic they have to get the claimed range from 110 gallons.

Wonder what you could pick up an M820 expando-van for and outfit?

The truck according to Google gets 10 mpg and comes with either 81 gallon single tank or 139 gallon dual tanks. The guy added an additional 110 gallon tank

Erni

It sounds like they added a 110 gal tank. So if the teuck has 90 gal tanks (?) then with 200 gals toal it's only 10mpg.

And that M1009 was not a true "military vehicle" but was a commercial Blazer that had been modified for military use. IOW it was considerably more luxurious and comfortable than a vehicle like the M900 series which was designed from the ground up to go to the military. ;)

guy down the street from me has something similar. I need to go chat with him, see what the story is.
