I moved into a new place a while ago, and I need to get landscaping done here soon. At the very least have plans submitted. Looking to have the front yard done first, and work on the back yard next year. Would need to sit down with someone and talk over HOA requirements and additions I'd like to have. Any recommendations or people in the profession?

None that I have called seem to want to do a job unless it's 20k+

I'm assuming that means my contact didn't come through?

going through a landscape project myself. Got the plans and bid done last summer. Later in the summer. He's starting this week. His next job opening is mid Sept. Be prepared to wait till late fall to get it completed. Also the price may shock you. They are in high demand right now and are charging accordingly.

I'm sorry about that. That's unfortunate to hear.

Same experience for me from contractors to do landscaping, concrete work and excavation for my septic. I'm basically having to find and chase these people down and bug the hell out of them in order to give them my money. It's the most bizarre thing.

you're in a new house you said, so clearly the yard isn't much (they never are nowadays)
landscaping isn't complex it's just hard work.

Do a couple nice simple things and make it easy to maintain and let it go.

if you really want more complex just try and get plans (pay for them).

I would then look at craigslist and see what you can find for people wanting to do side jobs. a new house lawn isn't going to be some 6 month project most of it should take a day or two. So maybe hire a guy to do a wall, another guy to do the sprinkler (which is the only tricky thing, don't hire a plumber, plumbers don't know DICK about sprinkler systems, just have the plumber do the backflow tap, but nothing else), another guy to do the lawn.

bilingual is probably a plus

or just hire a guy to help you do it on weekends. Let them do the heavy lifting and you'll get way more done.

I don't have the time to do a 1 acre lot on my own and not to mention I don't have a damn clue when it comes to landscape design. I definitely don't want to chase down twenty different people and the project to span 6+ mos to get my yard situated. I just need bare basics to have it done and HOA off my back. Just seeing if anyone here is in the profession.

1 acre lot...ouch. That won't be cheap.

That's gonna hurt... Sorry the HOA is riding you.

My parents got a quote to have the backyard done at their house, and it came back at like $65K. They have a large backyard, but the prices that landscapers are charging is asinine.

What exactly are looking to have done? Sod and a few trees or a full blown garden of Versailles? You might be able to take the measurements and a few pictures to your local garden center to see if they can whip up a rough plan. Especially if you order the materials through them. Then it's just a matter of getting some cheap help from friends to plant and lay sod.

My landscape project just got started. He is 3 weeks early starting it. When talking to him this morning, he said he is booked out till October. If anyone is interested in having him giving you a bid, pm me. Just realize your project won't get started till October or November. Or spring of next year.

Pretty basic stuff. HOA is requiring a certain amount of grass, some trees, and the rest will be rock. I'm thinking of have just having the front yard done for now. There are few things I want to done with the backyard, but that can be left for another day. I've been talking to a couple landscapers but man, who knew this stuff is in this much demand, communications has been minimal at best. it's so odd.

Reach out to Rick Parsons - Rocky Mountain Rain. He's pretty good at getting you draft drawings for your HOA. He built a nice patio for me as well as some sod/sprinkler, rock, and path/breeze work. Tell him I sent you.

He will also bring a portfolio of past projects for you to review.

I feel your pain, I've found that hunting around on YouTube has helped quite a bit with learning about landscaping. It's a good way to get into shape, especially if you have 1 acre lot. My first recommendation would be to get a good lawn mower and weed eater/trimmer, that should help start getting the HOA off your ass.
