This is a follow up on my raccoon thread from a few days ago, the the dumb a$$ raccoon came back and got trapped again in the same basement window well.
City of Aurora Animal control is worthless, called them this morning after there posted opening hour, 0900 hrs. They didn't answer the phone, and as of this post hasn't returned the call from the message left.
I wonder if this would be their response to a vicious dog call ?
I ended up calling someone from the link a member posted in the last thread. They will be out tomorrow to capture & relocate the raccoon.

Just tell them it's a vicious rabid pit... they'll be there quickly along with LEO to shoot it.
It's a baby. You should keep it as a vicious hissing pet.
So this thread isn't about the McRib?

Good news! Less dead critter around your house is always a good thing.
Now buy a grate you can stick on that well.
Raccoons are wildlife, not the responsibility of municipal animal control--they do dogs and cats. You could call CPW but my suggestion is to simply put a board, a post, or a 2x4 or 4x4 down into the well long enough for the critter to crawl out. Leave it alone and it will leave at night. Do not put yourself into the position to get bit or you'll be looking at distemper or rabies shots.
I've caught dozens of raccoons. They look cute but are very fast can be vicious. Give it a way out and it'll go away.

To Skip : That is/was this weekend's homeowner's chores along with cutting the grass and so on.
To Hummer : I gave it a way out, but it came back. So now it will be captured by someone that deals with urban wildlife & relocated far far away.
I used to spend my days during the warmer months fishing baby bunnies out of my window wells. I missed one once and it chewed the daylights out of the screen.
I bought custom window well covers and they're one of the best investments in home improvement that I've made. No more bunnies and they also don't fill up with snow or rain water.

For future reference.
You'll need:
1. One internal combustion engine. In running condition.
2. One length of rubber hose. Length is dependent on location of internal combustion engine and unwanted critter.
3. 1 sheet of plywood or similar flat substance that can temporarily cover window well.
Run length of hose from window well to internal combustion engine. Cover window well with sheet of plywood or similar item. Making sure to cover entire opening and window below is closed tight. Plywood does not need to make airtight seal but should cover entire opening with minimal gaps. Insert hose under plywood. Go start internal combustion engine and insert other end of hose into exhaust exit. Run for approx. ten minutes or until unwanted critter is deceased. Remove plywood and allow noxious gas fumes to clear for 10 minutes. Remove unwanted critter and dispose of properly.

I have one of these I've been looking to sell. [Tooth]

It's aluminum, it's adjustable and I only replaced it because I made the window well larger for legal egress.

Must be a Syrian raccoon !!!!!
Leave a bowl of ammonia down there. They wont go down there anymore.

Maybe this is more effective at repealing them:

Find a couple 'save all the things' hippies to come rescue the raccoon. ...and take video.

Some labs have shown about 80% of raccoons are carriers for that parasite that they shit out. I'm not sure what the ratio is in Colorado, but there is regular testing in a lot of areas. As long as you don't eat raccoon poop, there is no worries.
If you do eat raccoon poop though, it can on occasion infect the brain and they go chomping away at your grey matter at amazing speed. But who is going to eat a raccoon crunchy bar right?
If you have very young-uns in an area where raccoon poop, don't let them eat dirt. The rare brain infections especially can have them blind within something like 48 hours, and vegetative not long after IIRC, and there isn't any reversal.

...and if he does, maybe he'll clean the windows.

The racoon hasn't been back in the window wells, but I have seen it & it's two siblings in my back yard and in the green belt behind my house a couple of times.
