It's been a little over a month since the Battle of Breakneck and I know this a little late. I wanted share some of my progress leading up to shooting my first PRS match. I wrote a couple different posts that talks about switching from a 308 to a 260, shooting the match workup and then the match itself.
My First PRS Match- A New Caliber (http://theblackrifle.blogspot.com/2016/05/my-first-prs-match-new-caliber.html)- This first article talks about switching to the 260 and how I settled on trying out a Criterion Remage Pre-Fit barrel. I only had about a month to get the barrel ordered, installed and a load worked up in time for the match, fortunately with timely in-stock notifications and several range trips I was ready.
Battle of Breakneck Match Workup (http://theblackrifle.blogspot.com/2016/05/battle-of-breakneck-match-workup.html)- I started the trip with the match workup run by Rick Reeves, Matt Parry and John Griswold. I also shot the side matches, including the mile match.
Battle of Breakneck Match Report (http://theblackrifle.blogspot.com/2016/05/battle-of-breakneck-match-report.html)- Here I talk about the actual match, the weather was cold and rainy/snowy with winds averaging around 20-25 MPH most of the day. I even heard some shooters say they recorded gusts up to 45 MPH throughout the day. I ended up placing 63rd. My goal for my first match was to break the top 50% and I at least made that.
Overall I had a lot of fun, despite not being able to feel my fingers towards the end of the match. I am definitely looking forward to shooting more of the PRS matches.
