Police Officer Ronald Tarentino was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop on Rochdale Street, near Zabelle Avenue, at approximately 12:30 am.

An occupant of the vehicle opened fire on him during as he approached the car, striking him multiple times. He was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds.

The subject who shot him fled the scene and remains at large.

Why are you jonesing to post so many cops being killed (3 threads???)? This seems off. Either you are happy they are being killed (which I doubt and hope not) or looking for a fight over all of the recent cops mis-deads. Niether of these seems to be a good thing to be looking for. Most (not all) on here applaud the good work of most cops putting it on the line out there. This just seems like bait. I'm not trying to take said bait but hope this thread does not turn into another devisive thread looking to bash either side. In-Before-The-Lock........................

Try and keep up, Kev has been posting these for awhile now, and out of all the articles he's posted, you are the only one that has turned it into something it's not.....

Every officer killed in the line of duty or LODD deserves to at the very least have an individual thread showing respect for the loss of life while on the job. Thank you for attempting to make this something it absolutely is not, which is something I mentioned in my very first post about LODD. If you look closely I have made no comment or opinion about each death only the ODMP.org website reference showing the details of the fallen.

If you think I am looking to attack law enforcement officers you are highly mistaken or misguided. Out of respect for the thread, the fallen, and the entire forum, of which I enjoy being a part of, I won't tell you what I really think of this post.

I don't usually respond to these threads, preferring to simply read them and say a silent prayer. Unfortunately, one of our members has questioned the OP's intentions for these threads and I feel compelled to respond.

As the OP has already stated, his intentions for posting the LODD and occasional off duty deaths of LEO's is only to show respect for the fallen.

Our MSM is hell bent on exploiting every instance where an officer is forced to injure or take the life of a citizen, and they almost always make it out to be some grand conspiracy by law enforcement to injure or kill someone. But we know that in almost all of the cases the officer had little choice but to use force (often lethal) on the suspect.

Our MSM seems to want to barely mention the deaths of our law enforcement officers. If it weren't for the efforts of folks the the OP, we'd never hear about most of these deaths. This calendar year alone there have been 38 Line Of Duty Deaths in the United States; including 3 in Colorado. 38! This number doesn't take into consideration those officers killed in off-duty accidents or other tragedies. If you take the time to read any of the links to each of these officers deaths you'll see the other victims of these acts - the families of the fallen (ETA: In this case, Officer Tarentino left behind a wife, 3 children and his 91 yo mother whom he watched out/cared for). What isn't mentioned is the lost experienced by the coworkers and the communities of these individuals.

Sure, those were serve as the thin blue line between us and violent criminals understand and accept the risks of the job, but I applaud any effort to honor them, even with something as simple as a memorial post on a firearms forum. While I'd prefer it if he didn't have to post these types of threads so often, I sincerely hope he continues doing so as the situation warrants.

If this is on the up-and-up good. Too many of these types of threads have been so devisive, this looked like another. My bad if that was not the intent. So many cops going down....... Again just seemed off.

Trust me, it's on the up-and-up. I know the OP well even to say without a doubt that his intentions are honorable and not meant to create controversy on the site.

So many of these officers are shot at traffic stops. I read each of these incidents with a feeling of helpless frustration, knowing that the LEOs are highly trained for these situations- but that circumstances can't always be anticipated. How I wish there was something that would make the traffic cops safer.

My heart goes out to his widow and family, both blood and Blue.
