I found a pistol suppressor I want to get, does anyone have any experience with the Arapahoe County Sheriff signing ATF Form 4? I searched the Arapahoe County website and found no reference on the procedures to get the ATF Form 4 signed. I sent the Sheriff's office an email yesterday but have not heard back yet.

Or just buy it and wait about 2 months before sending in the paperwork (avoid the signoff requirement)....

He once called me down to his office so he could tell me that he trusted me, but refused to sign off my Form 1.

Or took a dump in the back of one of his filing cabinet drawers when he wasn't looking.

Robinson, the previous Sheriff, was known to be none too friendly concerning our 2A. David Walcher, the current Sheriff, is/was known as a gun guy. Granted, I have a NFA Trust and haven't had to deal with CLEO sign offs not have I heard first hand experience from others concerning Walcher. Get a Trust regardless.

As Dire Wolf stated; just wait a couple of months and negate the CLEO signature requirement.

That is proably the sanest course of action but I gotta admit this whole NFA process does little to satisfy my need for instant gratification.

Convince or pay someone to get put on their trust, while you wait for ATF approval.

We need "approval" to own certain firearms & accessories. Yet no ID required to vote.

OMG. PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!!!!

Sharing a Trust to avoid the $300 fee to get your own is about like getting married to use a 2-for-1 coupon at Olive Garden. The potential downside if [when] the relationship ends FAR exceeds the potential savings at the outset.

So how does it work after I setup a trust, how do I go about getting ATF blessing to possess the suppressor?

call any ffl that carries nfa items. They'll walk you through the process.

There's a few discussions here that cover said info. BUT... call one of the IP's and talk to them. it's eaiser than applying for a ccw.

Now if only i could figure out why my reply ended up like this.. THAT'S THE REAL QUESTION [panic]

Started the ball rolling with NFATrustGuy.

Crap, it seems kind of silly to have just ONE item in my trust, hmm...

Hey everyone, I just got a call from the Arapahoe Sheriff's office in response to my email. The Lieutenant who called was very polite and professional and said that I should send my paper work in and the if there were no disqualifying issues the Sheriff would sign them. He did mention that he did not know if the Sheriff was in town so he could not say how long it would take. He said he did not need the finger print cards that those went to the ATF but that in the lobby of the Sheriff's office they provide a service to do the fingerprints. Maybe times are changing.

UPDATE
5/25/16 - Mailed paper work to Arapahoe County Sheriff
8/1/16 - Received my Form 4 signed by the Arapahoe County Sheriff it took 9 weeks, 5 days seems long
