I miss crappie fishing. We used to take a canoe out on Sam Rayburn reservoir and catch them all day long.

Yup, the best way to dress a trout is to throw it away and replace it with a crappie.

I spent many days when I was a yoot in the 60s and early 70s on Sam Rayburn. Caught a lot of fish there.

I don't know where he was, but I like to guess.

My guess is the pond off of 128th just west of Zuni.

I would have guessed Mckay lake on 144th.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if the OP gives up his secret spot.

I think it was the one ray is talking about? Alex and Michaels pond according to Google? I drove Around looking for water after coming back from cabelas with the new rod
im going to hit up McKay here soon

tin they where hitting on gold flys with red wings of it helps with the little ones getting some panfish action

Tinelement, if you want a neat little fishing trip with the kids and don't mind a short drive I would recommend the lake in Evergreen. They stock it so there are plenty of smaller trout to be caught. Most people don't stray too far from the parking lot but there is a path all of the way around the lake and if you walk it a bit you can find plenty of places where you and the kids can fish without the crowds. I took my son there when he was younger and we had a good time.

Thanks guys. Normally we only do Mountian lake fishing on our camping/backpacking trips. He wants to go more often so need to find some urban areas around Broomfield for panfish. We have a holding pond behind the house but have only seen carp pulled out of there.

This thread brought me back to growing up in northern wis. I lived on a chain of 6 likes and we had 270 miles of lake shore. One of the best times of the year was buggy whipping (fly fishing) the gillies in the spring when they went shallow to spawn. We'd easily boat 100 in a few hours after work/school. Fish fries were amazing!

Little trip down memory lane.
