Last weekend my buddy was camping and riding his dirt bike on the trails at mushroom gulch, trout creek, and 4 mile.
Was camped at mushroom gulch. His bike was stolen Saturday night. Right out of the camp site. Rolled it right into the wash and to wherever they could start it without waking people up. So start locking stuff up. Total pisser.
Wow. Just wow. That's like someone stealing your gun while at the range. Just dirty. Im sorry to hear that.
That's why I chain my stuff to a tree when I park it for the night. Improves my chances of still having it in the morning. I also chain them to my trailer when I'm transporting them.
Reminds me of the TI's in Basic when they'd find an unlocked locker.

I don't suppose castle doctrine applies to a campsite, does it?

It applies to the tent. Shoot, shovel and shut up applies to the rest of the campsite.
I saw the thread on ADV. I'll keep an eye out for the bike.
Must've been a Bernie supporter.....

You should post up the bike details. I know a lot of guys going out this weekend. Can pass the info on.
But either way people suck.

Always throw a cable lock through the bikes and around a tree or random trailer part. Always thought I was just being paranoid. Figured it "might" save me the headache of not finding the dirtbikes in the morning. Guess I'll keep locking 'em up. Do this w/ the genny too.
I hate thieves. What a bunch of assholes. I hope your buddy gets his bike back and then some.
I think this falls into the same category as cattle rustling or stealing a mans horse. Catch em in the act and string em up or maybe just shoot em.

Make suren it is tied to something. A padlock through the disc brake just keeps it from rolling. It doesn't mean four guys with 2x4s can't just walk up, throw the 2x4s through the spokes and walk off with it. Just ask Stodg73 about his Hayabusa.
