I ran out of win 231 today. I go to sportsman's, "no 231 for you, but this 700x is sweet, the only thing I shoot."

theres load data in my book for 700x, so I purchase it, from my very first throw, nothing is right. Powder, when it comes out at all is in pressed globs. It goes in pretty flakes and comes out looking like a mouse shat into my cases. I'm loadin on a Hornady powder measure. I've thrown thousands of charges with this thing. It cuts long grains like butter, and now I cant get a 4.4 grain within 1 grain +\-.

Ive got some blue dot on the shelf. I'm thinking, maybe my measure crapped out while I was at the store. Damn squirrels/neighborhood children. Blue dot runs as I'm used to. Perfect.

so am I unlearned in a special ceremony with 700x? Should I call hodgdon and demand a refund?

what the hell is going on!

Pictures?

Could it be static? Moisture? Sounds weird for sure.

Static, like irv said. What's the humidity reading in your loading room? Possibly too dry. If it gets below 30 - 35% my throws are off.

Humidity is 40%. I'll try again tonight and get some pics of the packed powder. Is 700x just particularly susceptible to static?

Take your measure apart and clean it with soapy water. After drying hit it with compressed air and tie a dryer sheet to the outside of the powder hopper. You might also want to try spraying some anti static cling spray on a rag and wiping the plastic powder hopper off.

Big flaky powder=static
