Along with our monthly 600 yard Mid Range Prone match at CRC, the NRA has created a new category which is meant to appeal to the rack grade shooter with the AR platform, in any caliber. The NRA writes that this category is not another part of F Class but rather is thought of as "prone Service Rifle with a bipod and a scope.
This match is shot concurrently with Match Rifle and Service Rifle in slings on the low end of the range, and with F Class shooters on the high end. Match format is three matches of 20 shots for record each, with unlimited sighters in 25 minutes. The three relays rotate between shooting, scoring, and pulling targets in the pits, all easily learned skills (except the shooting part!!)
We show up at the range at 8:30-8:45 for squadding and check in, close entries at 9am and usually break the first shot by 9:20-30 after out safety briefing. Match usually wraps up about 2:30 pm and our weather forecast is great.
We had 30 shooters last month, including 5 newbies, so we welcome new shooters and can pair you up with experienced shooters that can show you the ropes.
Match program, info, and details are on the www.crci.org (http://www.crci.org) website, under EVENTS then scroll down to June 11 and the Mid Range Prone ANY ANY and click on the title and the info will pop up.
I tried to upload the NRA memo on AR Tactical Rifles but am not sure of success, so send me an email ron.burgy@coloradoclass3.com and I can click it back along with the Match Program promptly............
Any questions, shoot me an email with a good phone number and time to call and I will be glad to answer................. Hope to see some of the AR-15.CO crowd out this Saturday
