Today my two dogs ate one of my chickens!

I have two doxies, and today they were eating one of my hens. The poor thing was still alive, so I had to put her out of her misery. Never expected to loose a chicken to my dogs. I'm partially to blame as I never took the time to introduce the dogs to the chickens.

Now when they are out I guess I need to keep a better eye on them.

Hope the dogs don't get sick from eating raw meat like that.

Sucks for the chicken. All dogs have that ability in them...some just act on it. Not sure if they'll get sick but you might watch them for worms.

Doxies were bred to hunt rats and weasels, so not surprising that they took the chicken down if you did not train them not to. But they will not get sick from eating raw meat. In fact it is much healthier for them. This is why it is best to keep chickens caged if you have predator animals as well.

The dogs won't get sick, the problem with raw meet only comes when it sits around dead for a while first. It was probably the best meal they'd had in a while and they love you for providing them sport!
