Just seen a rumor that academy is now in the group with jax and dicks, looks like a corporate trend.

They puled them from "display" but apparently are still selling them. What disturbed me more was the statement that they would start keeping records of people that buy more then 10 boxes of "assault" weapon ammo.

one more reason I buy in bulk online from places that understand the 2nd Amendment and aren't a bunch of damned idiots.

I bought enough between 2000 - 2008 I may never have to buy ammo again. Maybe a box or two of defensive stuff. I may have spent a lot on ammo...but I would've spent 3 times as much buying it now.

With the personal ammo situation stable I can concentrate on buying things that'll get me thru the next crisis...bourbon, tequila, gin...the important stuff. I'm gonna need a lot of booze on hand to get thru 8 years of another Clinton administration.

ETA: If you didn't buy your cheap AR in the last year or so, you'd better hurry. I'd say there's a good chance they aren't gonna be cheap much longer.

Great, another store to add to the list of stores that, when I remind people of how they didn't support us during crisis and to take their business elsewhere to not reward bad behavior, I can be told that I'm wrong and shouldn't be petty.

I guess the whole idea of gauging the quality of ones character during low times and not when things are going well don't apply to corporations even though they're legally people.

Maybe they are pulling them to hoard them in the back so when the panic hits, they have a supply.

I'll only say one thing. Pulling AR's from display for a period after a high profile shooting makes some sense from a PR standpoint. Keeps you from seeing your store's name on the news with video of the evil black rifles in closeup.

The gun control groups made a big deal of Walmart ceasing to sell AR's when in fact, Walmart was stopping because they didn't like the margins.

If they just stop selling them as a statement, screw 'em.

...it also supports the anti's stance that they're different and should be treated differently. One more step towards banning them just like evil 30rd magazines that are so different than their 15rd counterparts.

The amount people give up with guns in the name of not offending/not scaring/PC, is unreal.

Again, Imagine if the baker said, "You can get your gay wedding cake but you have to go to the back of the store because we don't want to offend anyone". Think there would be an outrage? And that's for a freaking cake, not a constitutional right.

makes no sense to me. Heck, once some whack job goes off and kills a bunch of people with a shotgun, then what, take them off the shelf as well?

Why must some bring up cake in EVERY topic?

Because it's the most important thing in the world, duh! Second is bathrooms.

On serious note... I believe firmly that banning semi-auto rifles is not just a Dem objective but also the goal of anyone who wants to soften us up because rifles win wars. So I expect more whackjobs, terrorists, etc to keep using semi-auto rifles. They are creating data points and people eventually tire of trying to reason with screeching emotional toddlers.

My point is the left doesn't give an inch on their issues. Yet we sit here and half of us say "Oh well, let's go to JAX (insert other store name) anyways because they have stuff I want." Cakes and bathrooms SHOULDNT be an issue yet that's what gets the press because they won't just roll over. We're our own worst enemies sometimes.

You are missing my point. Keeping the local news frauds from creating a video is not the same as agreeing to treat the rifles differently.

It would have more relevance to the topic at least.

The cake topic is played out and has no relevance to the shooting that took place in Orlando over the weekend. Continually bringing it up in every discussion serves only to make us seem like the same heartless robots that want to push their own agenda we accuse anti's of being.

It's simple folks, there's two options for those who sell firearms:

1) They support the hobby and our 2nd amendment rights (which doesn't specify by weapon type) or
2) They don't

There is no middle ground where they think certain weapons are okay and others are not... they fit into category 2 if that's the case. You either support 2A or you don't. Period. Anyone who doesn't at any point for any reason and for any period should be called out on this fact and the decision to patronize them with our hard earned money should include this factor.

JAX pulled this crap after Sandy Hook and I haven't been into a JAX since. Guess what, my life has been just fine since then and there hasn't been a damn thing I haven't been able to buy w/o spending money at JAX. If anything, I've saved money because I would spend a little more to support a local company that supported me... until they didn't anymore.

Now, Academy is on that list. This BS story that they pulled them to keep reporters from getting video or stories is a crock and anyone that buys it is an idiot. Even if it were the case if it means getting those rifles in the hands of new buyers who want an AR15 while the video cameras are rolling for some fluff piece to be aired at 10pm... worth it. If just one person walks into a shop wanting to buy an AR15 that day, sees none and walks out w/o buying one then the terrorists have won. Worse yet, someone who has no intention of buying sees none on the shelves and immediately hops online to order up 40 lower receivers to help start the hording ball rolling. Either way, this is horseshit and the common gun owner is punished.

Just like the JAX threads... of course they have the right to do this and I never once said the .gov should step in to force them to sell anything because that's just stupid. We also have the right to choose who we give our business to and see my points #1 and #2 to help make it simple for who we as a pro2A community supports.

Wow. I mean... Wow.

I guess we could end up with two lists...

1. Secret gov list of prohibited persons
2. No do not sell list from MSR manufacturers

If you're expressing guilt or are self-conscious because you sell MSRs...that's not sending the right message.

The rifle was not responsible for the actions of its operator.
