Not the caliber the movie.

On a lighter note..... No matter how many times I watch this flick it gets my now skinny crippled ass so fired up. Makes me want to try and see if I can knock out push ups like I used to, wear a red cape and go punch something. Yes I used to do all 3 of those as frequent as possible.

That is all continue on!

As the years go on the old farts start to look like Ephialtes. And think they can battle too! Lol

I get all fired up when I watch that movie, too.

Sometimes I'll even turn on the sound. [Coffee]

Been to the Hot Gates. Disappointing. The sea has receeded a couple miles from the battlefield and they put a highway through the area so it is hard to picture a narrow choke hold, ocean, and a confined space. Looks like a field with a mountian on one side.

Not a bad movie or comic but wish the would have tossed some real factual history into the mix. They kinda forgot about thousands of other Greeks and Helots that fought with the 300 Spartans. Hell, each Spatan had 3 Helots with him and those poor bastards got nada for their sacrifice. Revisionist history is pretty brutal regarding the Hot Gates. Since no one wants to offend the "Persians" books today are giving the invaders points for a great victory and conquering most of Greece. Never mind that the battle cost the Persians 20,000 troops (Greeks lost 2,000), sparked Greek resolve, and the fools lost it all within 18 months and then really lost it 150 yrs later when the Man destroyed their whole empire. Too bad it's rising again to cause so much trouble. Guess we need another Leonides or a Philip or an Alex.

Yeah, pretty bad ass movie though.

Still in my top 5 if not my favorite movie of all time. I've got a pretty sweet A/V setup and I still play the trailer whenever I'm showing it off to someone. I try to explain to people that the contrast is blown out intentionally to mimic the comic books but it really doesn't seem to matter. That movie is just glorious in about every imaginable way. Listening to Leonidas' speeches and their amped chants back to him at reference level cleanses my soul of the societal barnacles that have attached themselves to make me bitter and jaded in my old age. This movie gives me hope that if we ever have to fight for this country I may still be of some use despite my rapidly advancing age. *checks own for abs*

Huh, maybe I'll have to watch that movie again. I remember when I saw it I thought it was just another standard fair summer blockbuster.

You should try pointing out how the dwarves in Peter Jackson's Hobbit movies don't actually look like Tolkien dwarves (including the beardless Kili and nearly beardless Fili or Thorin). Some women get unglued at any criticism of the hawt dwarves.
