View Full Version : Has the price increase begun?
On Monday I saw an online retailer, Arms Unlimited, post the Colt 6920 for $875 with free shipping-don't really have the funds for a duplicate gun, more interested in getting a pistol but noticed it when looking at their site.
Today it's up to $899, $24 not a big deal but just thinking if we're going to see the price hikes again or have they already started? Not bashing here, just observing. I'd frankly do the opposite and drop prices to help out those that perhaps never before thought about getting one but want to just because others don't want us to have them (let's see-have we gone through this before? :D).
Some folks just don't learn, or perhaps they weren't old enough last go round.
Palmetto state armory only has 2 rifle build kits in stock. One is in 6.8 caliber. Ive heard lots of mags are bought up already too. Might be the start. Might just be a little scare. Might be this way until elections. :shrugs:

Yes it has.
Once one retailer starts, the rest will follow. Basic economics.
Yes, it has.
Id say yes it has... Lots of places seem to be getting short on stripped lowers and build kits, in particular and complete lower prices appear to be going up on par with the Ops observation.
I didn't pay too much attention to prices, but several vendors I routinely browse for deals seem to be running out of inventory.
Whether the "panic buying" has already begun waits to be seen.
Any time politicians start discussing firearms related legislation you will almost always see a surge in sales.

I have done some gunbroker bidding the last few days. Seen price changes consistent with Doc45s observations. Did buy an AR15 and a AK with those searches. May pick up another one of the two. As for local dealers I bought an AK this week at 5280. The remaining model went up 50.00. Have plans to check other dealers today and tomorrow. I had plans to buy these firearms before the Orlando shooting, and I have other items that I want. I am sure it will b3 more challenging.

I remember in the prior panics many vendors froze thier sales in anticipation of selling at a higher profit.

I've definitely raised my prices.

Oops, apologies. Want to merge them?
The surge is probably also due to everyone who procrastinated and waited until the last minute to start an SBR build like myself.
That being said I've made a few large firearm purchases over the past week in anticipation of a price surge coming again. I also picked up 10K rounds of various caliber ammo.
The last time this happened I had enough ammo to wait until the craze was over to buy more, figured I should play it safe and make sure I'm in the same position again. Considering .22LR hasn't gotten anywhere close to pre sandy hook prices just imagine if the same thing happens with .223 and 5.56 I'm worried the new normal could $.75+ a round.

Haven't noticed the price increase yet, but availability seems to be an issue. I'm piecing together a rifle that I have been working on for several months. Just waiting every other pay check or so to get a part so as to stay in my budget. I was working on getting a barrel sometime this week or next and started trying to locate one. A lot of sources seem to be tapped out.

I agree. Some of hot items on gb or even some vendor website supply has dropped a lot.
Maaybe I should've bought the used tavor for 1100 when I had a chance... :(

Had a coworker who must be in his late 50s buy his first AR yesterday and another one considering it.

You trying to sell it?
Thinking about it. Probably sell it for parts, as-is, for a grand or something. I won't sell it to anyone I know though.

$525 for used Glock 27 in the TP, I'd say at least one member thinks the increase has begun....

Ah, the 'ol Rodeo Sport! I loved that thing back in the day. The first direct injection engine on a mass market vehicle. I always thought it looked great and was ahead of it's time, even though the market was not kind to them. Was it really that bad?

As for the actual topic of the thread, I have a feeling we are in for some bad bad days to come. I think gun control just became fashionable again, and in the runup to the election we are going to see politicians and the media keeping it on the surface throughout the season. Never letting a crisis go to waste and all...

Observation- from someone in the business. We have definitely seen an increase in sales in this last week. Most obviously in the area of ARs. Firing Line will NOT raise prices until/unless we start paying more for the item. Have plenty of guns and ammo- although prices are higher than what you can get it for online. Even $899 is a killer price for a new Colt 6920. Our cost is not much less than that. I cannot speak for other retailers.

Here's the real question... have wait times for background checks increased yet? Or do they seem to be at levels typical for the last few months?

Yes they have increased a mite. They do fluctuate a lot- but we saw it go over an hour for a little while one day last week.
My wait time today was perhaps 10 minutes, around 10:45 this morning.

When there was an eliott rodger incident at Isla Vista, I thought they were about to ban Black BMWs.

I think we won't see the same levels of panic for anything short of actual AWB legislation. People have bought such an incredible amount of gun stuff over the past 10 years.... I think lots of folks are probably thinking that their stash of 40 PMags, 12k rounds, and 4 extra PSA complete ARs is probably enough.... ;)

Two weeks ago at Neve's it was about ten minutes. Tuesday at Cabela's I was told one hour and fifteen minutes and it took two hours. But, I think that was just Cabela's trying to get me to stop buying used guns there, they want me to spend my money elsewhere. It worked I won't be back.

I bought 2 Anderson Arms stripped lowers the other day. Got a great deal on them, had them shipped to Rapid Fire Bunker in Littleton. My background check took all of about 3 minutes. Tossed the lowers in the safe...and now we wait. Submitting another Form 1 this week for another suppressor. Gonna build 1 more before the silly law changes in July.

HARD ass!!
When there was an eliott rodger incident at Isla Vista, I thought they were about to ban Black BMWs.
Especially fully automatic ones. Stick shift will cause far less damage.
Thought I'd share some info I received today.
Supply is getting low at a lot of places again. There's a run on guns that's similar to the post sandy hook run. Things have held steady so far because an excess was made available when the craze died down but that excess is quickly being yanked off the shelves again. As an example the only non blemished stripped lower receivers that can be found sub $100 right now are Andersons. My FFL told me his supplier had 4 Spikes in stock this morning, I bought them but was told a couple minutes after purchasing them someone actually bought them about 20 seconds before me so my money was refunded.
The ammo surge is also ramping up again. Apparently there are rumors floating around that both sides of the political world are about to strike a bipartisan agreement that limits the amount of ammo a person can purchase at any given time so everyone is hoarding ammo again.
I hope you're all stocked up because if you're not now'a a good time to do it before the crazy prices get here.

I won't doubt another ammo run (hoarders don't need a real reason), but thats a pretty stupid rumor. That isn't even one of the many initiatives the dems have been pushing for this time around.

If I was a gun store owner AND a sleeze ball, I'd make up all sorts of wild things to push product post tragedy and pre election.

I spoke with a local shop today, steady sales, nothing crazy to report.
