View Full Version : Buy Glock 9mm or 16" AR carbine
For the hell of it. Have 18 and 20 inch AR's. five J frame S&W 38's and some 1911's and N and K frames.
Feel just paranoid enough to want a M4 clone or a Glock 9mm .
Which one first and why? Or other firearm.
I cast and reload so options can be varied varied.
Shotgun? My preference is the Remington 870, but a functional shotgun in 12 or 20 will cover a lot of ground.
Semi auto pistol would be next IMO. The difference between your 18" and a 16" isn't big enought to put it very high on the list. Just pick up a 16" upper when you see a good deal or better just build your 16" upper the way you want it.

No shotgun? Since you reload, I disagree the glock is cheaper to shoot, having a few wheel guns myself. I agree the glock is easier to upgrade / modify, then a revolver.
Recommend you need to handle and shoot one before buying. They're not for everyone. If you're that "paranoid" the AR items will be the first to increase price and demand wise.
You already have AR's and having one 2" shorter than what you already have isn't going to be a huge deal.
If you haven't actually shot a Glock then I'd recommend trying one out first. Either you're going to love it or hate it.
Since you asked for other options, I think an AK would make a nice addition to your collection.

Glocks are an aquired taste for sure. I don't like how they fit in my hand, but I shoot them pretty good. If you cast your own bullets, a different barrel should be used on the Glock. ~100.00 cost.
My daily is a G19.
Try a Sig P320 instead of the Glock - just to see how it feels.
I love my Glocks. I've owned numerous S&W M&P's and Springfield XD's, I'm not sure what it is but I like Glocks better. I have several Glocks in several calibers but my favorites are my G27 that I carry daily and a Glock 19 that gets run pretty hard at the range. The 19 is cheap to shoot and easy for anyone to shoot including beginners.
If you've already got an 18 and 20 AR why not go for something different like an AK or M1A? Or better yet build an SBR before the new NFA laws take place. A suppressed 300 blackout SBR would be a good addition to any collection and since you reload the ammo would be very reasonable.

Get the Glock... or at least another semi-auto in 9mm... check out the VP9, M&P9, XD9mod2, etc too. Don't just go with Glock by default unless you already know it's the gun you actually like the best.
Don't overlook the S&W M&P. I'm another that while I shoot Glocks well I hate the way they fit my hand. A full size M&P with the small backstrap feels great, I shoot it almost as well as my custom 1911 and during cooler weather it's my "go to" ccw. I agree since you already have the 2 other ARs just get a new upper if you must have a 16".
Glock 19 it will be. I can reload center fire cheaper then 22LR.

Yes!
OP can buy the Tupperware (that's Glock) now, along with the AR lower and 9MM mags then build the AR as time/budget allows. Isn't there a 9MM AR lower that even accepts Glock mags?
I've done several builds this way (bit-by-bit) mainly because I just can't afford to do it all at once. But if a person were afraid of laws/availability this is a smart way to plan ahead.

or, consider a 14.5" upper!
If you're concerned about a future AWB get the AR now and Glock later.
A rifle is better than an handgun most of the time, maybe all the time.

My thoughts as well. We will see what happens in the next few months as the crazy, lying Hildabeast ramps up.
Also I subscribe to the theory of two is one and one is none.
Pick up the Glock later.

Get a glock mag AR or a sub 2000. I would say AR15, Glock than 9mm Glock AR
