The doctor who drowned at Chatfield was the ob/gyn of my daughter in law and delivered the grandson 2.5 yrs ago. My dil is going through the full range of feelings. My older son was the flight medic for the young girl, only survivor, of the car/train accident in Trinidad.

He's certainly dealt with his share of bad things after 3 deployments; 10 years as a combat medic and 2.5 as a flight medic but as anyone who's had to deal with tragedy well knows it's the kid cases that are the hardest.

Appreciate what you have every day, don't dwell on what you don't have.

Well said, those are some tragic stories leaving some hurting hearts.

So true, marketers and manipulators be damned. I figured this out a while ago, but a reminder never hurts.

Jody, was the AMTRAK vs Vehicle at the same grade crossing where the former owner of Arizona Liquors also got killed a few years ago?

Yes. Same spot but they were going the other direction.

Tell your son Thank You for me, for everything he has done and will do in the future.

Someone told me a while back to know good, you must know evil, to know happiness you must know sorrow. I can only hope the horrible stuff your son experiences he gets paid back in full with good things.

There weren't many details in the news regarding the doc. Did she not have a life jacket?

She did not.

Life ring that was never inflated.

Sons 14, 13, 11 and son's 11 year old friend were with them. I've seen online and heard from the wife conflicting ages so I cannot confirm them.

What I've heard is storm came up, board hit her and knocked her unconscious while they were all trying to get ashore. The boys tried to get her to safety, but she went under.

Family dog was on the board with her and is MIA as well.

Thoughts and prayers for the family and friends of these tragedies!
I was at south marina unloading my boat at noon. Shortly after this storm moved in, it was hell!
Hail and high winds for a solid 45 minutes with no letting up. I left about an hour after it stopped. When we were leaving we passed the scene.
Very sad day

There is a gofundme page setup to help out the family of the doc who passed Sunday, mostly geared for her boys' future.

How sad, the boys will carry this for the rest of their lives.
