Browsing online today I see Chinamart offers a prime like service for $49/year. They call it 'ShippingPass' and it says two day shipping and free returns in store or online. Anyone else heard about this or tried it?

Nope. never heard, never tried. Probably won't ;)
I doubt I'll use a Walmart membership, but I have found products cheaper there than at Amazon. Got a shiny new toaster from them a few weeks ago. Their standard shipping is pretty punctual.

Like Amazon prime. Free shipping, some deals, ok movies for free. Today had my first problem. Had ordered some CZ grips and they arrived broken. So hopefully my return will go ok. They do provide return labels, so far I like that.
Amazon's new deal is that you can skip Prime shipping on items you don't need right away and get credit toward e-books and movies and stuff.

Amazons customer service is superb. I've never had issues with any of my returns.

I second this. Never once had a problem with a return or concern.
Prime is the nuts. Up here we try to have as much delivered as we can. The $100 a year for Prime we save on gas I'm sure, plus time, which is priceless.

I agree on the return policy. had an issue with a past return window. Explained to CSR that the contact # had "Less than stellar grasp of English" the 3 documented times i tried to exchange item. No problem, we can get it taken care of.
As for $$ saved. Where you're located. it's not so much the gas as hassle of dealing with the mindless Id e its

Not for me. I don't do amazon prime either. They collect tax. eBay vendors who does not have distribution center in CO does not charge sales tax.
ETA: If they have some kind of special offer, i am open to it. :D

That's why I'll stick to Amazon over WalMart...no sales tax here. There is on WalMart online purchases.

But, but.... you are paying your Use Tax on those untaxed purchases.
They even have it on the Colorado Income Tax Form now.

I don't mind paying my fair share of taxes. What I mind is how Amazon and Google collect and use information on me. I have no need for Prime; when I DO use Amazon, I always qualify for free shipping anyway so no need to give them extra money or information.

Not only do I get more than $99 worth of 2nd day shipping, I get that much value or more just in movies/TV shows. Not to mention the music. Not much of a music fan but that's another great benefit for those that are. For us it's $99 well spent.

I got in on a deal in December for $84 and love it,will absolutely renew.
Amazon CS FTMFW.
I sent an item back to a vendor under an issued RMA and they lost it. Got tired of the back and forth and just opened a case with Amazon. Done. Credit was there immediately.
Sadly, I am being a bit hypocritical when I hit Place Your Order as the founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos leans pretty far left. But I don't go there for guns.
