I was driving down Acmdy today and noticed that there will be a Prospectors Sertoma gun show this weekend. They had their standard sign up by Village Inn.

Not worth the drive down from anyplace far, and if you walk slow and make 3 laps it should kill about an hr.
Standard cut and paste from their website.

Colorado Springs Event Center at Rustic Hills,
3960 Palmer Park Blvd., Colorado Springs, Co. 80909
SERTOMA has sponsored shows in Colorado Springs for 42 years.

Their is an RK Gun Show this weekend at the Mortgage Solutions Financial Expo Center of Colorado Springs at 3650 North Nevada Avenue.
That show usually has some interesting tables of guns and collectibles.

I've had good finds at Springs shows. Seems to be more variety and turnover, while Denver holds Groundhog Day shows. But I still go because it's cheaper than a movie and some of the yoga pants are better than pr0n!

So after a couple strolled past (with the wife in skin tight yoga pants) the gent who set up next to me made a comment about how many women seem to lack any sense of modesty!
From behind those pants were not much more covering than a coat of paint would have been!

I did pick up a German Imperial Artillery short sword from a private seller.

I quit going to that show years ago because it had so little that drew my interest it certainly wasn't worth it. I hold out for the shows at the Freedom Financial Expo; it too is going down but at least it's still more firearms/accessories than anything else.

Any reports from the RJ Gun Show at the Colorado Springs event center?
I was over that way, but did not have time to stop by today.
I was thinking about going on Sunday afternoon, but wanted to know if it was worth the price of admission?

I drove through the parking lot. Only 25-30 cars in the lot no one going in or out, entry and exit through the same door. They used to use one door in and the other out. That means they are using half the space and don't have enough foot traffic to worry about congestion. I did not go in. Oh, entry is now $10 instead of $9 per a small blurb in the paper.

ChadAmberg
08-14-2017, 08:30
I did go, and it wasn't too bad. Yeah, only about half the space was used. However, the number of real gun vendors vs others was pretty good. Didn't see any jerky at all! And the prices were... fairly decent. Wish there were more C&R type sellers though. And it wasn't crowded, which meant many of the vendors were willing to make deals.

so you are saying it is worth while to go, if nothing more than to scope out what you have?

There are one or two things I am looking for, they will be easy to buy once I figure out what they are.
Who knows, a parts kit might just be one of those things.

I walked the show this morning and went around at least once.
I saw tables with lots more interesting stuff than what I have.
I spotted a really nice East German Makarov and a Lee-Enfield #5 (it needs a rear sight, but $250 is a good price)
However, I spent my money on a WW2 US M1 A/A Battery Commanders Observation Scope!

The Event center page still lists shows from dates that are in the past!
It appears they don't do a good job on updates.
HOWEVER having spoken to the RK show promoter there is going to be a Gun Show in Colorado Springs starting on Friday afternoon.

The promoter usually has billboards and radio adverts as well.
My hope is that customer show up on Friday as well!

I went on Friday at opening and then swung by again on Sat with my stamped hand. Well, it was a gun show. Very spread out tables in both halls of the event center. Personally did not find anything. I’m assuming most vendor sold most of there goods online during the shutdowns. Worth $12 entry fee? No.
I’m curios about a Tanner show. Anyone have info about those?

On Saturday, May 1st, I got a call from a friend who asked me if I wanted to go with him to a gun show @ Palmer Park & Academy here in the Springs.

I thought "Hmm, I know there was a show last weekend, but had no idea there was another this weekend". My buddy assured me he saw a marquee sign that said "Gun Show This Weekend" in front of the venue. Given I know a bit more about firearms than my friend and he may want me there for advice, and since we hadn't hung out in over a year I said "Sure".

So I go to his house and we go to the "gun show". We get there and as we're looking for a place to park we're both thinking that the people going in look a bit "odd" (actual word used by my friend). Now, I know that over the last 2-3 years a lot of folks who never would have considered owning a firearm have been buying them up, so maybe that explained the clientele.

Given we were a little unsure of the event based off of the folks going in we thought we'd peek into a window first. While everything inside was curtained off there was a flier taped to the window which advertised that the weekend event was actually the "Oddity & Bizarre Expo". Well, this explained everything we were seeing.

Needless to say, we didn't get a chance to buy any over-priced ammo or beef jerky.

The line to enter the gun show was much shorter.

I sold a lot of pouches and "stuff" to those customers.
