View Full Version : A pretty good day
Took a ride on the scoot to Breckenridge Wednesday. Took 285 to 9 and then in to town, got in just past noon, grabbed some lunch (Fiesta Jalisco Mexican restaurant-chicken chimichanga was ok), a nice breezy 75 degrees. Walked around a little bit, grabbed a cup of coffee, people watched (good sights for sure hehehe). Took the same route home.
Last night helped my younger son replace a window regulator in his old Nissan Xterra. He looked everything up online, found a good vid, he did 90% on his own, well done son. Afterwards sat on the back porch and sipped down a cold one. Good times, just sharing.

Stop it already!!!
You are making my life suck!!!
Hahaha, it all goes back to suck for me on Monday. Oh, just to rub it in going to the Rockies/Phillies game tomorrow night for the fireworks show, have another good ride on Saturday, more family time on Sunday. The world's cutest 2.5 yr old is ready for some more time with his Poppa :D.
That's awesome! I picked up a 2005 Honda nss250s scooter from Aurora Honda last week. If I could've afforded something a bit bigger, I would've. Nonetheless, I've been riding it everywhere and it's a blast. Need to take a road trip with it soon.
Props to you for getting out during the week. It definitely is time to hit the road and lay some rubber.
The roads clean for the most part?
Ugh. Jealous. I tried to go out for a fun drive on Saturday but all the cyclists were jamming up the road I wanted to take. My fault for not getting out before they got on the road. :(
Looks like you have a fun day!

Awesome man!
Thanks, I've been fortunate to have done a lot of traveling in my life so as I get older I enjoy "staycations" more and more. Our state has it's problems no doubt but it's damn scenic especially taking the "back roads" on two wheels.

Sounds like a pretty good couple days to me!!! I may have to try that route to Breckenridge out.
Bully for you, getting out to enjoy the weather and the sights! That's a sweet cycle.
I'm stealing your route. I've been to and through Fairplay several times but never went up in to Breckenridge from there. Was looking for a decent lunch ride tomorrow. Just hope we don't get stuck behind a bunch of people pulling campers when we come back.
If if you happen to see this post some time tonight, I'm curious what that road 9 is like between Fairplay and Breckenridge.

+1
ray, the road is in fine shape. There was striping going on between Blue River and Breck that slowed things down but I imagine it's finished.
By the way met up with sandman76 this morning for a kick ass ride to Guffey. Hadn't done that before, amazing scenery, good roads, not too much traffic. The worst was making the decision to take 25 from the Springs back to the metro area-10 mph for a good 20-30 minutes with no obvious reason for the slow down.
Thanks. Got my group on board with making the trip tomorrow. Should be a good day. Definitely better than being stuck in the upper 90 temps here in town.
I hunt out of a cabin in Guffey and it is a constant parade of motorcycles and tourists.

Yep. Had a feeling that we should have gotten off the crapshoot that I25 has become at Monument. Need to start listening to those voices in my head.
Great ride otherwise. The scenery and roads from 24 to Guffey are excellent. Weather could not of been better. Thanks Doc45.
Might try the 470/285 route from the DTC to Fairplay, for the first time, next weekend. I've taken the car multiple times, but never the Harley. Just ordered saddle bags, but they will not get here in time. Luckily, the wife can be my outfitter since we are headed to the same cabin.

Just got back from Breckenridge. 285 was kind of crappy in spots (traffic) but otherwise it was an awesome ride.
Here's my motorcycle "gang".

And here's a shot from the ride. My niece was riding with my brother in law and took the picture.

And for those that haven't been to Fairplay here's a shot of the scenery. Fairplay kind of sits in a valley.

Awesome!! Outside of the traffic snafu I'm glad you enjoyed the route. Next time you get your group together and want another rider let me know. I'm tied up baby-sitting my 2.5 yr old grandson next weekend but lots of free weekends after that.
We ride pretty much every weekend during the summer. Sometimes Saturday and sometimes Sunday and rarely both days. We usually make runs to get lunch. Typically leave around 9:00 in the morning, ride to a destination, eat, and then ride home. Usually back by around 4 or 5.
We've had lunch in Cheyenne, Laramie, Steamboat Springs, etc. If we have other stuff going on we'll make shorter rides and come home sooner. Usually we like to go up to Longmont to a place called the Pumphouse.
Oh, and we'd welcome another rider. The more the merrier.
