"So, we have made it through all the orders through the 11th and most of the 12th. Over 1200lbs of Form 4's and trusts off to the ATF. Over 2 million dollars in tax stamps alone. This is the largest number of Form 4's ever sent to the ATF in one day, ever!"
Now times this by how many NFA dealers? Granted, may not be as much as this but the system just got overloaded.

I'm curious how long eforms has been down for, haven't been able to get in all day (looks like they deliberately took it offline)....

Yeah, no kidding....just got off the phone with their helpdesk....apparently the site has been bouncing between online and offline for several days now....
Hopefully they'll use some of that flood of cash they've just recieved and update the system to at least work as well as a circa 2000 website run by 10 year olds would.....But that's probably just wishful thinking...

Not really. It was destined to happen.

Anyone who didn't see the e-files site crashing as we got closer to the deadline wasn't planning ahead.
My question would be....................How long before the feds figure out how to scan prints & pics. OR will F1 e-file go the way of the short lived F4 .

Yeah, I figured it would probably happen, but had some timing consideration outside of my control.....also, was hoping it wouldn't be a blanket outage, as previous eform outages I've seen could be pushed through with a little patience and a good connection....this time it looks like they actually flipped the switch and flat out took the system offline....
Oh well, time to order some FP cards (one more agency having my prints is no big deal, uncle sam's had that info since I was a teenager)...At least with only one RP it won't be too much of a pain, I just like the convenience of eform submission....

IMO it's just a shit load of paperwork. Other than that, for everyone who was sitting on the fence. BUT didn't want to go the trust route and lived in a cty without a NFA friendly CLEO. It's the perfect time to get in to the NFA game.
I was set NFA wise. Till an as yet unnamed forum member called for clarification on a F1. By the time i walked them through the process, i had submitted another F1
Nothing like another BYO can. Maybe Christmas, maybe not. I "suspect" average 5-6 month wait. I do miss the 30-45 day years.
I'll be happy if mine that I sent in last week arrive by Christmas.
Me too, and what sweet Christmas present.
With what, maybe 500,000 new NFA taxpayers since the first of the year, comes more pressure to remove suppressors from the NFA. With the right President and Supreme Court it could be found unconstitutional on several grounds. It's certainly a public health and cost issue. If only we could save one shooter from hearing loss....
I just wish they would put some forms to the head of the line. Nothing like having a large chunk of cash laying out there and waiting for 200,000 suppressors to get approved.
Also if you think you will see your stuff by Christmas I'm assuming that would be Christmas 2017
Eforms will not be coming back for form 1 & 3s.

Gee, the .gov going in reverse technology wise? I'm shocked.

You going for the snowflake exemption ;)
I submitted 4 within a 2 week period. Asked the examiner. Since you just approved me, last week. Is it really necessary to repeat the same procedure again? Umm yes sir ALL background checks are as important as the first one.
Which reminded me of this as he spoke

More like the MG exemption. So few are submitted compared to cans and sbr's.

If they stay as 41F says it's suppose to. Once prints & pics are on file, E-filing should be GTG. Key word.... Should.
Straight from the horse's mouth E Forms is done today for form 1 and 4 .
The ATF just announced they will take eForms offline on July 13th. Here is a link to the ATF's Q&A on 41F.
https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/docs/general41fquestionsandanswersupdated-6-28-16pdf/download
Q: Will trusts and corporate entities still be able to use the ATF eForms system to submit
applications after this rule goes into effect?
A: No. The eForms system was not designed to allow the filing of forms where fingerprints and
photographs are required. ATF will continue to work toward improving the eForms system and
expanding it for future use.
And again remember the purpose of the NFA is to discourage ownership not facilitate it .

Well they did a bang up job, once 41P was leaked. That and the build your own suppressor. 1 yr ago there were maybe 1/2 doz entities who filed as a Form 1. The feds didn't have FORM 1 REGISTRATION on there. You had to input it, then wait for them to review it. Changed from from DRAFT - Submitted.
2 weeks later there was an easy 2-300 entities. Last week the list read like a big city phone book.

I did some paperwork for a Form 4 that presumably my dealer sent off on the 6th of June. He's a solid guy, pretty sure he did.
The money was not taken out of my account until July 12th. 5 weeks to cash the check. It's going to be a long wait for those of us that made last minute submissions.
Just thought someone might want to know.

Ouch. Money is usually taken within days.
They are erratic. The last one I sent in was mailed June 22 and the check cleared my account June 28.

I know mine was due to my dealer "changing carriers" and they held onto my form 4 for a month before sending it in instead of going to fedex and picking up some damn envelopes... at least it got there but it only took 1 week for me to get my money taken once it arrived.

I did one in Feb '16, took 7 months to complete.
List of things Government does best.
1. Steal your money
2. Steal your time
3. Waste the money they stole from you.
4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own.

Nice, you made my sig.
Called today on a pending 6-6 form 4 and they are still saying 6 month turnaround. They are lying just like Hilary.

Form 4 NFA Item submitted on a Trust in mid-February 2016, stamp received on 14 October 2016.
So, approximately 8 months turn-around.
Yeah, it seems were at Feb/early March forms right now.

The recording at the NFA branch has been updated to 8 months before they want to hear from you.
