View Full Version : CAUTION: Nationwide "City of Rage" Protests - Friday, 15 July 2016

Just a word of caution to everyone about this Fridays scheduled "City of Rage" protests all around the country.
As with all of the recent protests, these have the potential to blow up into very violent, very dangerous events - and may spread far beyond their identified locations. Personally, I'll be avoiding all of Denver completely.
From zerohedge.com:
Denver: 5:00PM (CIVIC CENTER PARK, 100 W 14th Ave Pkwy, Denver, Colorado 80204)
Here's the link to the full story & the complete list of planned protest locations (in case you're not in CO). Be aware that protests could pop up in other cities not on this list too.

Be Aware, But Not There! National 'Day of Rage' Scheduled For July 15th, 2016
Use this as a list of places NOT to be on Friday the 15th. While the video by Anonymous does specify non-violence and denounces the actions taken against police officers that were not involved in these deaths, with the tagline “Day of Rage” I think it’s safe to expect emotions to be running very high on both sides of the line. No matter how great your empathy might be for those who have unjustly lost their lives, these protests are not safe places to be.

Thanks for the heads up. We never really know when or where.
I just took the whole tribe cross country back home to northern Wisconsin for the 4th of July. Me, my wife, my 6 yr old boy and my 4 yr old girl. 31 hours in the truck.
My wife nagged on me while I was packing the truck because under the rear seat of my truck is dedicated to survival items. "Do we really need the rifle!??" she says.
We drove through Minneapolis/St. Paul on Saturday.
The rifle was happily in the front seat.
It's getting nuts out there.

I'm glad you didn't get caught up in it. Keeping general survival/safety/medical stuff tucked away somewhere in your vehicle is always a good idea.
Ginsue, thanks for the heads up. Remember everyone, your head is your best tool. Paying attention to local/national news while being aware of your surroundings and avoiding potentially bad situations is the best way to protect yourself from crap like this. If any forum members live near that Colfax/Broadway area of Denver or have a business/home that needs protecting, this forum is a good place to ask for help.

I am surprised Ault didnt make the list! These shifty eyed buggers up here have got to be up to no good, no one can just sit on their porch that much without having some kind of agenda planned! I will lock the screen door for the night just to be safe!
On a serious note i seen an interesting event in Greeley while working Tuesday, a couple cops had an (AA) man stopped on the side walk on the north side of town in a questionable area. The officers were kind of surrounding the guy talking to him, an (AA) woman was walking down the sidewalk and i seen the one officer motioning her to go around away from the scene and it appeared she did. I was turning to go down the street about a half a block for a service call, i didnt stop and gawk i was driving by. The interesting part was the 2 vehicles setting around the corner both with (AA) males sitting in them videoing the incident with their phones. I didnt see the outcome, by the time i turned around and parked i could see the cop cars were gone and so were the guys with cameras. Everybody wants to catch something happening on video now. And its a primarily hispanic area, i cant remember the last time i seen african americans around there, and i work that area a lot, i kinda got the feeling it was a set up, that or it was real convienient that a couple gentleman just happed to be driving by at that time and both stopped to video the incident from that angle.
It might be time to carry the Glock 29 and some G20 mags, or maybe it’s time to just carry one of the G20’s. I’ve always been told, bring the proper firepower when going into a bad neighborhood, it sounds like metro Denver could be a bad neighborhood on Friday.

With the blatant escalation of violence at rallies lately, one would be wise to err to the side of caution.

Everyone else, why does one decide to carry because there might be a threat? Instead of having an advantage on them when ever out n about

I'm allowed sporting equipment at work. That's okay because a 2 iron extends my reach quite a bit, I can always use it as a cane when needed, and liberals don't work themselves up in a frenzied rage over golf.

Folks are absolutely mobilizing for protests this weekend and next week. For the RNC and elsewhere. They are calling for action on Facebook, craigslist and on their own websites. Dozens of groups have been approved to protest the RNC convention. For folks that can't make it there, they are organizing concurrent protests in many major cities. You can find this stuff on google, but checkout these links just to get a small idea of how organized these crazies are...

Subject: ARNORTH THREAT ADVISORY: Potential for violence or criminal activity
ALCON,
ARNORTH Threat Advisory follows for situational awareness. Atlanta Georgia is one of the locations specified in the advisory who will be participating in the event.
ARNORTH issued a Threat Advisory concerning potential for violence or criminal activity in the wake of the deaths of six Dallas, Texas Police Officers.
On 15 July 2016, multiple protests are scheduled to be conducted across the United States. It is labeled as "Day of Rage Protest Across America" to protest the shootings in Baton Rouge Louisiana, St. Paul Minnesota and Dallas Texas. We have no information of potential violence at this time. However being anywhere near these protests greatly increases the chance that you may become a victim of violence. These demonstrations, intended to be peaceful can be unpredictable and may escalate into violence. While the organizers of the protest insist that their intentions are honorable and meant simply to bring the people together, the name itself, "Day of Rage", suggest something more insidious. Organizers could be counting on recent tensions and unbridled emotions to serve as a catalyst for violence. No matter how great your empathy might be for those who have unjustly lost their lives, these protests are not a safe place to be. The following are the scheduled locations for the protest:
Phoenix: 5:00PM (EASTLAKE PARK, 1549 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85034)
Tucson: 5:00PM (CATALINA PARK, 900 N 4th Avenue, Tucson, AZ 85705)

Right outside the Whitehouse is kind of a wasted effort, Capital police/Secret Service will just kick their asses. If they really want to get their hooliganism on, they should do it in Galleryplace/Chinatown. Much more space to run around & be idiots (and it's where I've seen a lot of protests after mike brown/freddie g.)

From what I've read over the last couple months, I understand the clevland PD has been requesting additional support from other agencies for months and very few have accepted the call for help.
They don't even have enough gear to issue to all their own officers.
At the beginning of the month I read that they wanted 4-5k officers and only had 1k committed. At the same time they only had 300 sets of riot gear. Nor did they have enough barricades. The city was reporting they had already approved 27 anti Trump protests, with the expectation of 100k protesters. So much so, the city has approved camping in the public parks.
I don't know how much support they have showing up now, but I'm sure it's not enough.
Even the FD is being issued ballistic vests.

I don't know how much support they have showing up now, but I'm sure it's not enough.
Thankfully it's the R's who are the party of Intolerance & hate. Otherwise, this will get ugly fast
Of course these same agitators don't grasp it's only going to put more voters in the Trump column
1: Clinton embraces Micheal "St Swisher" Brown, Travyon "skittles" Martin and others who were more than some 2x5 kindergarten picture.
2 : Clinton says whites need to come to terms with their privilege
3: Cops assassinated in Dallas and this " leader" says GUNS. At of all places Warsaw,Poland.
4: The dems don't give a fuck about the Bill of Rights or any other document that separates us from the rest of the world

I live in Aurora, the official staging area for a large number these fine members of society. So, I always carry even when I mow the lawn. After Dallas I stopped carrying my 380 summer carry and went back to my 9. As stated earlier it looks like now it’s time for my, hard to comfortably carry, Glock 20.
I'll be rolling a little heavier tomorrow I guess...
Ya, added a little weight today myself.

I live in Saudi Aurora too. Gonna have my .40 and my AR in the truck tomorrow.

Meh. I'm betting on it being mostly nothing at all. Maybe a couple small flare ups in 3-4 isolated cities across America... 20 or 30 rowdy protestors here and there. Hopefully the cops won't decide to shoot anyone. It's actually kind of funny how everyone here is quaking in fear and "rolling heavy" tomorrow. I'll bet this board is comprised of 98% white guys, 1% asians, and 1% hispanic. I certainly fall within those demographics. And none of us have anything to fear from black riots. Even after Rodney King, when it really was time for a day of rage, what happened? The riots were in the heart of the black community, destroying their own infrastructure. The riots were in Oakland, not Berkeley.
If there are any black members of this board, feel free to PM me if you want discuss guns and shooting sports without the casual racism.

I hope you're right. If being extra vigilant and prepared on a declared "city of rage" event is being casually racist, then I guess I'm a casual racist.

I'm just predicting tomorrow will blow over with nothing remarkable at all. Certainly in CO. Admittedly Atlanta might be a different story. But I absolutely believe in being prepared. Always. But I have the same level of preparedness 365 days a year (knife, gun, and spare mag on my body; bug out bag in the car). If I **really** thought that tomorrow was going to be a real conflagration (e.g. LA riots in 92) with true hazard to life and limb, I would do everything in my power to stay home behind barricaded doors with an AR and a stack of mags ready to go.
The casual racism that pops up here from time to time is an entirely different story.
BTW, how much rage do you expect to encounter in Rural Gilpin County? Probably about as much as I predict will hit Boulder.

Examples? For folks that live in Aurora or travel through there I don't blame them one bit for being a little nervous. Boulder, not so much.

The racism charge is what I was addressing. The MODs here are pretty good at squashing that shit fast. Cite a few examples that they missed.
And as far as rage up here tomorrow? I expect none, and that's why I live here. In some shitty areas of Denver? Maybe, maybe not.
Be safe man.
Without trying to detail this thread or start a fight, there is a ton of casual racism on here. Sadly, I haven't seen our black members (the ones I know of anyway) post in months.

Man, warn people about a potential danger, talk about being prepared for said potential danger...how did that turn into a broad accusation of racism? Seriously, where did that connection come from?

Perhaps the most naive nonsense I have ever read on this forum.

Negative, I am a meat popsicle.
eta: It wasn't just oakland, but LA. Don't also discount that places like Berkeley are not all safe & cuddly, despite it being hippy ground-zero. Anyways, those Korean store owners weren't on the roofs of their businesses with weapons for nothing. They were defending their very livelihoods. And as seen during last year's Baltimore flare up where several businesses were looted & burned, I wouldn't bet that the owners & managers of those places weren't severely effected, despite whatever insurance they had covering (or not) the damages. A person's livelihood can literally go up in a flash if that's where all of their assets are pooled.
St. Louis is a big city- ferguson is a small suburb well separated out that you wouldn't even notice on your way into St.L, yet that's where all the crap went down. DC is not a nice place these days (was it ever?), even before this latest round of crap. Groups of teens were/are daily hassling passengers on the metro; or obstructing the doors from closing all along the metro train's length so it couldn't leave, shoving each other in & out of the doors, fighting on the trains, etc. Give young kids with not a bright future a reason to act out (like, I dunno, a "day of rage" posted all over social media) and you've got reason enough to take extra precautions.

I stand with you brother. The racism against meat popsicles is what's truly staggering. All across America, they are undoubtedly the most persecuted minority. I hope a MPM movement (meat popsicles matter) will soon gain enough momentum to make a difference.

what if someone scratches your prius?
I was the recipient of an unprovoked racially motivated attack so if being prepared for the next one makes me a racist then so be it. With regard to today, It only takes one asshole to ruin your day. As far as who or what is going on; I don't care; I just want to leave Denver when my job is done and mind my own business as I always do.

Zing!
Actually trying my best to get the hell out. Only here for my wife's job and she's looking for a change too. We're house hunting up in the canyons in Jefferson and Gilpin counties. Still wouldn't mind a Prius though. It's hard to say no to 50MPG. For when I don't need to drive my truck. [Plow]
It's hard to say no to 50MPG.
I found it to be a really easy decision to say "NO".[Coffee]
Drove thorough on the highway a couple times today. Uneventful. Any reports from anywhere besides Turkey?

Well, a group of people tried to start something up by looting the Gander Mountain but they left empty handed and it really took the steam out of their evening.
Still waiting for all the protestors to get off "work?"

This sounds like that "purge" nonsense from a few years back. May have already been said. I don't care though. I'm in Canada safe n sound listening to people get stabbed outside my hotel.

We'll have to see what develops after dark, I guess.
Watched a bit of local evening news on all 3 networks, and not even a mention of any supposed protests.

Just some posers, stirring up trouble. The video wan't even from the real Anonymous, just some fools that tried to use the name to add some validity to their actions. Glad it amounted to nothing.

Only thing I saw in downtown COS last night were tons of people playing Pokemon GO. At one point, I think over 80% of the people we passed on Tejon were playing -- about 40-60 people around Plaza of the Rockies immersed in their cell phones and maybe 3 of us watching all the players.
