I was afforded the privilege of spending 2 days at the National Museum of the United States Marine Corps on Marine Corps Base Quantico.

The front entrance. It was modeled after the raising of the second flag put up over Iwo Jima in 1945.

I only had 3 hours each day and had my family with me. Also I was trying to read every plaque and inscription, talk to the volunteers working at the Museum, including one that had been a Platoon Commander in Vietnam and served with my old unit - albeit 50 years prior.

Thanks for sharing.

We got my Dad a paver there last year for Christmas. I told him now everyone who was ever a Marine can walk over him : )

Great photos. I think that's one of (if not the) best museums I've ever been to. It's been a few years though. Time to revisit it I suppose.

They are planning on opening 2 new wings that will cover 1976-2014 sometime next year.
