Limited GM

Once again Weld County Fish and Wildlife Range will be hosting the GSSF match. (Additional info can be found in the 2015 thread here https://www.ar-15.co/threads/146507-Colorado-GSSF-Glock-Match-August-15th-16th-2015 )

We will set up on Friday and RO's and early birds can shoot after, say, 11:00 or so. As always will be looking for Range Officers.

Throw any questions up here.

and YES there will be loaner guns if anyone needs them, so sign up for whatever divisions you want. Just see me or my wife at the range.

Thanks for the reminder. Is this similar to steel challenge where there is little movement and no fast reloads?

No movement and no reloads. No holster work either.

I will/should be there Friday for set up.

You a Glock guy now?

I decided last year that I'd like to shoot this match. Especially after borrowing a few Glocks and shooting well with them.

It's that hard black plastic, got his attention. Bring 100 rds. Better to have and not need.

Trying to make sure I can get one of those days off, as things just got busy again.
I'd like to buy a used G19 before hand, but as time is short, I'll likely end up needing to borrow something. I'll check with my off-site resources before I come and ask on here.

What's wrong with your fortay? Why not shoot what you use for IDPA

Because it's a Glock match, so you have to use a Glock.

You can shoot my 23 with 9 conversion bbl, if you want. That would save you a few $$, outside rental fees ;)

Guys keep in mind that ole Gaston set up these matches because he "created the perfect pistol." That being said, read the online rules, he really wants stock divisions shot with stock Glocks, other than a few mods; sights, grip tape, etc. now am I going to say anything about an aftermarket barrel? No. But the right RO might want to throw you into Unlimited division. That being said, IVE LOANERS.

also keep in mind. When you sign up, there will be a sheet for new shooters. If you brought a brand new shooter with you, write his and your name down. It goes into a drawing for a pistol also. Course make sure you spell my name right. :)

How is anyone going to know that, unless you volunteer said info.

Think i'll be put in the unlimpeted division.

no one will know or care. There will also be an armourer there who can look over your gun and if you replaced it because of an issue, they're good about solving issues and throwing any updated parts into it for free.

I've never shot this match before, does that qualify me as a new shooter?

there are a few divisions recognized:

female- obviously

seniors and I believe, super Srs.

guardian- which is LEOS, fire fighters, etc.

Master- People who've won 3 guns or classed as a Master shooter in some other discipline other than IDPA. Their Master rating is pretty soft.

Civilian- pretty much everyone else.

If you'll look at the online application, (maybe someone can post a link, thus iPad hates me) you'll see there is several different divisions you can shoot in one day. I shoot 6- or 7 myself. It just improves chances of winning by ability or random. I'll take luck over skill anyday.

I went the updated parts route but was still having ejection issues and stoppages and stove pipes. (Perfection my ass)

Put an Apex extractor in it and all has been well for 500 rounds so far.

Hopefully I can shoot it as "stock" since everything else is all factory Glock and I don't see where a different extractor gives me any sort of "competitive advantage".

What is "stacking"?

The course rules mentions there is no "stacking".

The course rules mentions there is no "stacking".

I saw that as well, and noticed it is only mentioned on stages with paper. I think because this is like Limited Vickers scoring, that "no stacking" means that you can't take extra shots. That's the way I interpret it anyway. Hopefully someone comes along to let us know.

O2HeN2

What is "stacking"?

Here's a discussion on it. Basically in multiple strings with multiple targets you game out the targets and don't transition from one to another (as the course description states), but end up with the right number of hits on each target at the end.

http://forums.brianenos.com/index.php?showtopic=138537

Imagine three targets, three strings, one round each target. But in string 1 you just hammer T1 three times, S2 T2 three times and then S3, T3 three times.

I'm having second thoughts about going. After looking at the stages I'm not too sure I'm very excited about them. Also I doubt I would place high enough to win any prizes.

08-10-2016, 10:52
Whether the stages are "exciting" is subjective. I shoot USPSA and 3gun all over the state and I think the stages are "exciting" enough that I'll shoot the match. There are random prizes given out so even if you don't finish at the top you could win a pistol.

Lol.

I didn't mean to imply it looked "easy". Just meant it didn't look like my cup of tea.

There's a USPSA match this Saturday that might interest me more and probably won't be terribly crowded with the GSSF thing going on.

Honestly, I'm still undecided.

Maybe I'll just go with my wife to her knitting group instead.

I think I'll probably only shoot in one division but I might do two. Going to run my gen 3 19 for sure and I'll run a gen 4 26 if I decide to shoot a second division. I have a brand new gen 4 19 that I am going to set up for IDPA use but I swapped out the connector for an aftermarket unit so technically I'd have to shoot that one in the unlimited class so I think I'll just leave it at home until the next IDPA match.

Good thing I shot as an "amateur". It was quite fitting considering how I today. Lol.

By far wasn't one of my better days behind trigger. When the results come out I'll let you know how I did. Hopefully I beat a few of the women and maybe some of the senior citizens.

Awesome seeing Jim today. Wish I'd met Ray and Irving. Unfortunately I was running short on help and had to hustle around.

We had 260-/+ entries today and another 100 or so pre signed up for tomorrow. We have to break 420 to beat the record, which I really want to do....

so...I'm carrying multiple Glocks, mags and Ammo , yes Ammo out tomorrow for loaners. As long as my Ammo last, it's yours. Just pay your entries, put ME down as the person who invited you and shoot away.

you can sign up between 8:00-1:59 and we will let you shoot. How can you beat that deal?

come on you female reproduction parts, I'm calling you out.

Major thanks to LGM for the valet service AND Big John for driving me out there.

It was nice to see a good turn out of women shooters and kids. Big difference from the 1st two GSSF matches held there. Having multiple RO's plus sign up folks at each stage allowed it to move along. Yes the first was a learning process. It's nice to see our range welcome GSSF back the last 16? years
