Male, history of supporting the democrat party then "turned" republican, older... Yep. Exactly the same.

Regardless of the comparison faux-pas my advice would be to compare Trump to Hillary. Which one would you rather have in office? For me, it's a no-brainer.

I am no Hillary fan, (she will be stonewalled by R if elected) but Trump will DESTROY the R party. Whoever is elected will make the Carter Administration look like Rockstars.

Personally, I don't think the republican party needed Trump's help. The party has been on a self-destructive path for several years now. I think that's why this has been so easy for Trump. And don't get me wrong...I'm no fan of Trump. But I'd take 100 Trumps to 1 Clinton any time.

Quoted for truth.

Since when has the Republican party been in anything other than self-destruct mode? Reagan AWB. Bush Sr. and W. were both disasters on multiple fronts -- not the least of which was both of their messing with Iraq -- following a playbook that only weakened America. Then the GOP try to shove Romney on America, who, let's be honest, accomplished everything in the context of the state of Massachusetts that Obama only hoped to accomplish and largely failed -- and had yet to actually accomplish at the time -- but somehow the guy who did it was the great hope against the wanna-be? And shall we mention his VP choice, Paul "Which side are you on anyway, boy?" Ryan. Please.
I'll vote Trump, but I have no delusions about the Republican party.

I'm going to vote for Trump because the Republicans and the Democrats hate him with a passion.
When I hear that my enemy is going to be pissed off....and my other enemy is going to be pissed off....I almost can't resist.
Beyond that, I pretty much don't care what color stool he dooks into the toilet that is Washington DC.
Its all going to be shit anyway. Trumps used Filet Mignon dooks, or Hillary's vegan gluten free sawdust logs. None of it is edible the second time around regardless.
The US presidential election is the process by which we pick the worst person in the United States over the age of 35 who isn't currently in prison.

Well, it seems some Democrats learn now and then -- and that was one of the hallmarks of the Reagan presidency:

You mean the collective inaction by the GOP after gaining control of the entirety of Congress hasn't put them on the path to destruction? The only thing they've stopped that the Dems have put up has been the latest gun control BS. So much for standing their ground... I'd say give Trump a chance to at least stave off total disaster until 2020. I think the cliff would be unavoidable if Hitlery gets elected. Remember, SCOTUS, I'd rather neither, but if I had to choose who picks the next justice(s), I'll take Trump any day over the other choice- And let's be perfectly honest, there are only two viable candidates.

It's probably a moot point anyway. We're headed for an economic collapse in mid to late 2018 that is going to make the last one look like a boom. Regardless of who is signing the bills, it's gonna be ugly. Think about this: we already have national debt vastly greater than our GDP, mortgage rates and other interest rates are at all time lows, and the banks are lending money hand over fist trying to keep the housing market afloat, at the behest of the Federal Reserve, because if we stop spending money we don't have on shit we don't need, the economy will implode at a rate and magnitude that will truly boggle the mind. I've not yet decided who I'm going to vote for, but it damn sure won't be Hillary, and likely won't be Trump either. It's like trying to decide what incurable cancer you'd like to die from.

It's more frustrating than you describe. It's like trying to decide which CURABLE cancer you'd like to die from.
A F@CKING SHAME! That's what you call this election.
Your heart is in the right place, but to say that the future outlook you are describing is over simplified would be the understatement of a life time. It's not over simplified out of malice, ignorance, or an attempt to deceive, but nonetheless it is over simplified.
P.S. No one hold your breath for some detailed explanation or rebuttal from me. I don't have the mental acuity to outwardly express what I mean. Total cop out, I know.
