I was out and about yesterday taking a different route home and came across a sign on a road not far from my house: "Rifle Range 3.5 Miles"

Sure enough, there it was. The "Lewis Clark Wildlife Club". Rifle and handgun range, open Fri-Sun, long-range shooting to 700 yards, $50 year (includes spouse). It's about 9 miles from my house. I'd asked around but no one mentioned this place to me. So, it was a nice surprise to find a place to shoot so close to home.

What's your "nice surprise"?

Took the wife to a new to us indoor range in Broomfield. http://www.goshootindoors.com/
It was her First time shooting both pistol and rifle and she did awesome. On the way home she asked about building/buying a new rifle[emoji6]
That was definitely a "nice surprise" and happy she is excited about shooting[emoji482]

What? Your house hasn't been hailed with ricochets and errant bullets from said range? [Coffee]

Kewl find. My local range was shut down a couple of years ago.

Well my nice surprise is that I came into this thread expecting some shocking new news on the Jihidist that ran the truck through the Bastille Day crowd in France and instead it was a positive story not related to how the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

I'm sure it's not perfect, but something positive in the world is nice to read on occasion.

At my house it’s angel but isn’t it the devil that makes other people buy things that piss off their wife? I often buy guns just to see if my wife has a tipping point, she usually just picks it up and says I like it, I want to shoot this one.

Well...I kinda laugh when guys say they want to buy a new gun but don't because their wife will get mad. Quit your good-paying day job with retirement and benefits and buy an entire gun store...then get back to me.

She's a keeper...

Mine just rolls her eyes and asks what I'm building now. She has her guns that she likes, and knows that I spend way too much on guns.

Back when I was still pushin' a radiator around. I'm glad I left that life when I did. Best job in the world when I started in the 80s. Not so much by the time I quit. Definitely not something I could tolerate now.

Well, the two boys now each have a single shot bolt .22, a tube fed .22, pump 20 ga shotguns, a bolt action .25-06, one set is Winchester, one set is Remington. They each have a 10/22, a Remington 1100 in 12 ga, each have an AR, and I have a Remington 600 and 700 in .308, but I will try and find another 700 of the same era to match. Each also have a Colt Huntsman .22 pistol, and I'm not sure if I will be giving them a Ruger Bearcat or Ruger single six for revolvers. I have an odd feeling I will be spendig a lot more on the next set of guns. It may have to be Sako or maybe ruger, though I don't care too much for their high power rifles.

I was trying to keep it fair. I don't know if the Sakos would be fair, unless its a girl, then she will probably be a little spoiled. CZs would be another good option. The ones I have are amazing shooters, including the shotgun.

I may have a fight on my hands if one turns out to be a lefty. Right now, I don't think I can let go of any of mine. It would give me an excuse to "try out" some others.

I have alot of the fire guys wanting me to adopt them as well. I think I will have to get a bigger house.

Been running the AC and two ceiling fans almost constantly for the last month or so. Plus, our whole house is electric. Electricity is less here than CO...but I still was expecting a large bill. Got the bill this morning...$98. THAT was a really nice surprise. I think I'll turn the thermostat down a couple of degrees! :)

F'n yellow jackets. I have to deal with them constantly, every day during the spring, summer and fall. Got stung 3 times cleaning my gutters a few weeks ago. On the other hand, it's pretty fun blasting them with a propane hose. Works way better than the spray cans.

The nest is inside an enclosed metal box thing in my rocks. Nothing can catch on fire. They need to be gone. Tried last night with spray and can't get the spray into the opening where they are going in and out. Have to turn the can at an angle that makes the goo not come out. Just the propellant. I'm very allergic to them and it's a menace having them there. My wife stands guard with 2 cans of spray at the ready in case any get to close while I'm trying to spray the wasps.

If you are that allergic, might not be a horrible idea to call a pest control company.

I'm talking about propane from a delivery truck. Big hose, really high pressure. It blasts them and freezes them in one shot.

I have called 2 pest control companies. Including Orkin. Nobody wants to return my calls. I don't beg people to take my $$$$. I'll nuke these suckers with something. At night. Thinking of just fast filling the damn box with great stuff expanding foam through the slot they are using for entry and exit. That crap sticks to anything that gets near it. Will surely stick to wings and bodies and close their demise.
