View Full Version : H&K G3 Trigger Guards
I saw this on forgotten weapons and thought it was interesting.
The photos are of some Turkish Militia during last weeks failed coup. Notice the shrouded trigger guards.

Interesting. Not sure what the purpose of such a thing would be. It'd also make the use by someone left-handed extra difficult.
According to the article it might be some sort of device they use in riot situations. Perhaps to prevent accidental discharges by nervous soldiers?

Even a shrouded trigger can't prevent stupid...... See the second picture........ The soldier has his booger hook inside the shroud on the bang switch.......
That would make it easy to crack you in the chops without busting your knuckles, or losing your grip on your grip. It would set up a nice follow through downward butt stroke, too.
I bet those work great with gloves. [Coffee]
Maybe that keeps people from reaching over and pushing the bang button when they are in a crowded close quarters situation.
Figured it out. It's some sort of California compliant trigger cover. Probably designed to break your finger with every pull of the trigger. That way a shooter can only fire ten rounds before having to take a few weeks to recover from their hand injuries.
Rumor is that most of the troops didn't know it was a coup, and thought it was a training exercise. That could be to prevent firing the gun in such a situation.

It is to stop a sniper from shooting off your finger.
Bullet deflector for when the bad guy aims instinctively at their gun... It just ricochets off to one side ;)
