I'm considering getting a Holosun 503c for my AR i currently run a Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 3x9x40 with a mildot recital and love it for shooting out to 500 yards, but im looking to get a red dot for close range shooting. I want to consider all my options in that $200-$300 price range so any suggestions would be awesome.

If you like a 2moa dot with optional 65moa circle go with holosun 503 series, if you want just a 2moa dot then options under $200 are: holosun 403 series, vortex sparc ar, primary arms advanced dot, truglo tru tec tg8120bn,
You can find a used eotech 512 for $300 as well.

I like my Aim Point Pro
these are great--you can find them on sale sub $400 from time to time. Also consider the Aimpoint ACO.
also, have you looked at Primary Arms' red dots?

Or, you might consider switching to a 1x6 and forget mounting/remounting
This would be relevant to the 1-6x argument. (or the new 1-8)

The Primary Arms Advanced Micro Dot gives 50,000 hours on a battery. Almost a T1/H1 performance for a quarter of the price.

I have several primary arms optics from red dots to scopes. Pretty dang good stuff for the price. I have had 2 units with problems and they shipped out replacements instantly and had me ship back the defective ones when I had time. Great company and extremely fast shipping.

Primary has just come out with a 1-8x with their ACSS reticle. Might solve all your problems

For the $200-300 price range you can't beat the Vortex Sparc. You can find them new for $200 and they come with multiple mounts for height along with the lifetime guarantee. I've been running one for about a year for a cheap optic on a training rifle/lender rifle and could not be more impressed. Next step up from that price range would be the Trijicon MRO. Shot it in January at Shot Show next to an Aimpoint and the increase in field of view was extremely helpful in close range. Takes time, but you can find them for just over $400 with a mount if you look around and are patient. Just depends on what you want to use it for and your price range but with what you stated, the Vortex Sparc is the best for the money to me.
