Kind of a rant, but more of a story

Location: Nederland, CO
Time: 1 hour ago

There I am, strolling through the produce isle of the local grocery store, walking in a straight line, browsing and picking out some of the fine selection of fresh fruits and veggies (lol) and deciding what to make for the kiddos for dinner. My phone rings - it's my wife. I answer.

During the "I forgot to tell you to get this and that" conversation, a filthy 20 something hippy chick bumps against my shoulder and mumbles something.

I instinctively say, "Oh, sorry."

Now, I didn't bump into her - she bumped into me from behind, but I was being polite. Keep in mind the isle is like 15 feet wide. Plenty of room to go around me.

Now the good part.

Filthy hippie: (mumbles in a pussy passive aggressive way) If you weren't on your stupid cell phone blah blah blah (inaudible)........ as she walks away.

Me: I'm sorry, what? (She ignores me) What did you say?

Filthy hippie: You wouldn't have to be sorry if you weren't on your stupid cell phone!

Me: What? YOU bumped into ME?

Filthy hippie: You would have seen me coming if you weren't on your phone!

Me: (laughing) I don't have eyes in the back of my head!

Filthy hippie: You shouldn't be on your phone.

Me: Who the fuck asked your opinion, hippie? (maybe I should have left out the hippie part, but I am sick and tired of them around here)

Filthy hippie: (look of total shock, wide eyed, mouth open)

At this point my wife asks what the hell is going on, so I tell her loud enough for the filthy hippie to hear:

"Some filthy hippie doesn't like that I'm talking to you. Fuck her. What were you saying?"

Filthy hippie again mumbles something as she walks away and I just say "Have a nice day!"

As I'm at the register checking out, filthy hippie strolls behind me to check out. She looks up and sees me, realizes I'm standing there, and them immediately goes to another register.

All of that was worth not having to smell her stench for 30 seconds at check out.

(I wonder much stolen merchandise she had stashed under her filthy shirt?)

Saw back to back stories today on the news, the first being another mob "jumping" a man on the 16th Street mall, and the next being how d bags turning homes into grow houses is becoming such a problem.

This hits close to home with working boulder all this week. Every place has stupid people walk in. The number and severity of the stupid I encounter at the office is horrific there.

Too many little stories to count, including the no vaccines crowd, so many fake service dogs etc. But one that took the cake the other day, Cali native bimbo with her 16 year old snotty daughter. Wants to know how to get her daughters social security card.

She's never gotten her a SS card before, rather than just losing it like most parents. Was clueless how you get one in the first place..... No shot records.... oh and has no idea about where a birth certificate might be.... wtf set your daughter up to fail or at least a hard time getting started. Ask her about school transcripts or medical records..... oh home schooled, followed by asking something unintelligible about some new school she just started and the doctor that comes?? and if he could write something.

Then the daughter after rolling her eyes at her mom rightfully thru the whole thing, got fed up and left after when looking at the form FOR THE DAUGHTER to get a SS card, she was completely mind fucked by the question asking for mothers name at birth. (Kept oscillating between not knowing if it meant her daughters name at birth or her mothers. (IE grandma), and it's like no genius, it's the daughters form/card, ergo you are the mother.) Sweet mother fucking god.

I shouldnt complain as the epic level of stupid some of these .gov workers are makes me want to quit. But between boulder and ftc, between hospitals and this job. The last few years has been a noticable uptick of transients and crazy.

Had a few different ones mention living in campgrounds. Had one group of ~22 year olds come in, chick and 2 dudes. Scuzzy from no baths, but otherwise non torn clothing, fairly nice back packs loaded with all their living on the streets gear coming in looking to get on food stamps. Same crowd that's invading fort collins parks and library just hanging out all day boozing/smoking/partying on tax payer dime.

This afternoon I'm trying to get lunch at the local Burger King (a challenge itself since nothing there is edible) when I go to the fountain machine to find a family of twits is camped around the fountain machine staring into space.

Now often those new combo machines baffle the lower end of the IQ bell curve, but no, these twits just think its peachy to gaggle up and block the aisle and access to the machine at the same. Oblivious to the fact that the rest of the customers might want to use it.

I went to the Adams County Fair today around noon and watched the 4H goat judging. I'm willing to wager the young people showing their prize goats were more knowledgeable, dressed better and their goats smelled much better and were better groomed than the young lady in the grocery store. Any takers on that bet?

Seriously, I learned more in 20 minutes about goat husbandry and how much these young people needed to know to show prize goats than I had known in my entire life.

I can’t imagine how bad Nederland would be these days. Having lived in metro Denver since the mid 60’s, Nederland was where all the hard core hippies lived because in there mind Boulder was too conservative and full of right wingers. I imagine you would have to be Full Tilt Bozo to live there now. I’m not even tempted to drive through there for fear that I would catch something.

Was with my parents at a local eating establishment a few weeks ago having lunch. Next to us was a dirty hippy with all kinds of piercings in her face. Looks like she fell face first into a tackle box. Also had several tattoos on her neck and a few on her face. Of course she had a small child with her dressed in filthy clothing and dirty as hell. As I walked by i pointed at her face and asked " How are those job interviews going for ya? Not to well I'm assuming". She gave me a stunned look, the kid kinda smiled, the guy at another table crapped his pants in shock and had a grin from ear to ear, and my parents wondered what the hell got into me to say that. It was EPIC. Pretty much fed up with them. I am really hoping that Kalifornia passes the recreational MJ bill so some of these crapstains move out of here for a better climate. Probably wishful thinking, but there is some merit to it. Our winters suck for these pavement wanderers. California would be much better suited for them.

About Ned IMHO:

There used to be a bunch of really cool places to eat, drink, hang out and BS in Nederland. The Tungsten Grill was awesome. A few good bars to hang out in. WTF was that Italian joint called? (Tom...help me out) It was the best damn Italian food I had west of New York City - I can't believe I can't remember the name. The owner said that he was "just tired and wanted to retire" when I asked him "why?" when we went there the last day he was open. He was from "The City", of course, or he couldn't have had the skills. Can't blame him for retiring, but man I miss his cheese garlic knots. One calzone was at least two meals.

There's this new pizza joint (sorry Tom) that we went to once. My stepson wanted to go there before winter break last fall. Cool. We get there and the Host tells us "Sorry, we ran out of regular pizza dough, so we only have the gluten free dough". AYFKM? A Pizza joint? <sigh> Well, the kid wanted this place for his special dinner so in we went.

Tiny "Totinos" sized pizzas were about $10 each and they only had special Italian soft drinks. No Coke or Pepsi. And gluten free pizza is like alcohol free beer - WTF is the point? $50 later we all had a few slices of shitty, cardboard-like pizza and pop. Woohoo! We won't be back, but I see they get a lot a biz. Location is my only guess. At the old Italian joint we would have eaten like kings and walked out fat and happy with 2 days of leftovers, as usual.

Anyway, it really makes me sad to bash on Ned so much. It really has been a great place to hang out, drink, eat some good meals and have fun over the years. The hippie culture undertone just added to the vibe of the town back then. But the last few years have brought an huge influx of "undesirables". Too bad.

I consider myself a non-judgemental person. I have friends from all walks.

The shiat going on up here is ridiculous. Every Millennial/Trustifarian has left the parents basement and dropped here. The Cold Spring fire and hash oil house explosion made the news, three other fires caused by transient shit stains have not. I can point to five private properties where squatters are living and trashing the area. I drove through West Mag. today. It's sad to see the trashed campsites.

The FS cries poor mouth but take a look at their vehicle pool yard. A couple of brand new and non used toys could fund several FS employees quite nicely.

The Sheriff's dept says call if you see something but there is no Sheriff patrolling up here at night.

Pass the buck.

Do I sound bitter?

Neo's was the Italian joint. I loved their garlic bread. To know Jeff is to love Jeff. Just don't work for Jeff. Jeff is good people!

HAH!!

Thanks for making a point I will share.

My rant:
"Those shiats put two long time businesses out of business. Over a year of renovating a 120 year old building, so they could sell overpriced pizza. The main partners pulled out after 4 fawking months. "

Ya should have gone to Back Country, at least for carry out.

Taking a look a Ned dining, only a couple of places are still original. The Black Forrest is in only because they were from Central City before the time of dirt. Like authentic German food? This is the place.

The Pioneer Inn is the last bastion of Ned food/bar and it is being threatened by the town to be closed down. Not the best food ever but it is the last authentic Ned experience.

The RM Oyster Bar...Really? ????? The Smoke House is ok but not worth the price.

Katmandu and Ubon Thai are both worth the price of admission.

The B&F still has the best burger in town. Just don't look at the cook.

All said, the Sun Dance still rocks!

Most of these fuckstick hippies in Ft Collins don't like the cold so they get scarce during the winter. One of the parks that all of the hippies hang out in, on Jefferson and Linden, was sold by the railroad to a private company and they are tearing up the land and making it into a restaurant. I hate to see grass replaced by blacktop but it will be nice not seeing dirtbags lounging in the park all day. Park was perfect for the wanna be hippies too: close to Starbucks, food, and the mission.

Worked in a building next door to that park for several years. Shared a wall with a pot shop for awhile. Nearly every day was a hobo fight or a body in the park the cops had to mop up. Aggressive to passing people, full of trash, drugs and dirty hobos banging in plain sight. It is a good thing for that park to go away. Always hoped the Mission would close and the rabble would move on. So glad not to work there anymore.

I eat the hell out of gluten. In fact, it is the major staple of my vegetarian diet.
Having said that, my wife stumbled on a home-made gluten free vegan pizza (yeah, I know) recipe using Udi's crusts from King Sooper...and it is one of my favorite meals ever. I'll confess to that. But when I go out for pizza, I go out for (real, regular) pizza.
