The IMHS is hosting a DogGone Poker Run on Sep 20 from 0900 til ???.

IMHS is a local shelter in the Conifer/Pine/Bailey area that operates on a shoestring budget with the help of a lot of volunteers. We've adopted or fostered numerous dogs from there.

It'd be great for some of the CO-AR15 riders who are into that sort of thing to participate.

Go here for more info www.imhs.org (http://www.imhs.org) or you can call me and I'll fill you in...Carl @ 720-384-8178.

Why is the word "poker" in the event title if it is a motorcycle race? Help me out here.

A poker run is actually just a good excuse to get people together to ride their bikes...and raise money for an event.

Basically you show up, check in, get a scoresheet. Then you'll be given a route map with various interesting or pertinent locations to stop along the way. At each stop you'll be given a card and that card will be noted on your scoresheet. At the end, the person with the best hand of cards is the "winner". There's usually some sort of prize involved.

It's not timed and it's very informal. You don't really have to keep score if you don't want to. I'll put up some particulars on the route later tonight. I know it starts in Pine Jct and winds through various mountain towns and ends in Golden. It's a pretty good time and I think little goodie bags and munchies as well as a chase/maint truck will be included.

And I think they'll let any "type" in! So don't worry about that. The animals are the real beneficiaries of the run.

Yep...they're pretty fun. Usually the type of people I like to hang out with, too. Most people that like bikes, like guns!

The run starts at 0900 in front of the IMHS office in Pine Jct...it's in the 2-story log bldg right next to the Chinese rest/liquor store...right on Hwy 285 about 1/4 mile past the turn-off to Deckers (Pine Valley Rd or County Rd 126).

From there we'll ride to Conifer and over to Evergree/Bergen Park. From there we'll take Hwy 40 west to the Hwy 119 turn to Blackhawk/Central City and on to the Rollinsville area. We'll turn on Hwy 72 and head east to Hwy 93. From there it's south into Golden and we'll end up at the Buffalo Rose Saloon on Washington Ave in Golden.

First card at sign-up, #2 at "The Bagelry" in Bergen Park, #3 at "Bullwhackers Station" in Blackhawk, #4 at the "Stagestop Saloon" in Rollinsville and #5 at the "Buffalo Rose" in Golden.

Hope to see some CO-AR15 guys/gals there. I'll be with my lovely wife on a green/black Harley Ultra with a flag on the back.

Oh, yeah...registration is $20 for a rider only, $25 for rider w/pass. Again...a very worthy cause.

Sep 20 at 0900.

Slight change in plans...

Starting/meeting location has been changed to the Meyer Ranch in Aspen Park. It's the yellow/white house with the airplane in the open hangar out front, right on Hwy 285 just before you get to Aspen Park (or just after Aspen Park if you're heading north-bound).

Registration/sign-up is at 0900.
