Thanks to a very generous friend of mine I have a Sparc II on the way to me, early birthday present. Should have it by the end of the week and will get it sighted in and run some drills with it next week. I'll post up my impressions. I'm a die hard Aimpoint fan when it comes to red dots but since my days of purposely going in harms way in nasty places are far behind me I'm looking for home defense and pure range fun with it.

Got it on Thursday. Mounted on the carbine, very easy set-up, I'm using a single riser for the mount as I want absolute co-witness since I use front/rear flip sights (Magpul).

It's pretty compact, controls are easy to use. Range session planned for Tuesday so I'll have more then.

I've been using one for about a year now on an Arsenal AK and couldn't be more impressed with the reliability and price. Hard to compete with a $200 red dot that includes multiple height mounts and a lifetime warranty.

Got out to the range today but unfortunately it was the indoor so I was limited to 25 yards, though I sighted so I should be good at 100. First observation, the optic mounted easily, didn't move at all from recoil. First rounds fired were about 6" low but windage was off only about 2". Got the windage worked out on the second 3 round group. I then worked on elevation and by the fourth 3 round group I was right where I wanted to be.

After that I programmed the target to expose for 5 seconds then turn away. Was able to put 3 rounds at a time on the body, center mass. Next drill was same times with 2 rounds for head shots. Again, everything worked just fine, all hits where I aimed.

The only negative I discovered is that the front flip cover did work itself forward and came off after roughly 40 rounds. Very happy with the unit, this will work just fine for my intended purpose. The gun btw has an Aero Precision 13.7" barrel, midlength gas tube with the Noveske KX5 permanently attached.

Will be able to go for a true 100 yard this weekend. Forgot to add that the ammo is Lake City XM193.

It's a great optic for the money. My only complaints are torx head screws for the mount. I freaking hate torx, they strip so damn easily.

The second is the dot "pulses". It's a high rate, but when I'm swinging between targets I notice distinct chatter in the dot, which throws me off. Maybe my unit is defective, I've never looked through a different one.

Even with those personal dislikes, it's an outstanding dot for the money, and with Vortex' warranty you can't go wrong.

I didn't notice the pulsing but perhaps that was because I was indoors and shooting on one target. I'll look for that on Saturday when I'm outside and using multiple targets, thanks!
