View Full Version : Media Bias; Will Smith Suggests a "Cleanse"
Will Smith made a comment about "Cleansing the country of Trump supporters" and these are the various headlines:
CNN- "Will Smith slams Islamophobia and Donald Trump in Dubai"
NBC- " Will Smith May Be Auditioning for Real-Life Political Role"
Billboard- "Will Smith Calls Donald Trump 'Embarrassing' & Shuts Down Islamophobia"
Fox- "Will Smith: 'Cleanse' America of Trump supporters"
Here's what he said:
"As painful as it is to hear Donald Trump talk -- and as embarrassing as it is as an American to hear him talk -- I think it's good," Smith said. "We get to hear it. We get to know who people are and now we get to cleanse it out of our country."
If a right leaning person said this type of rhetoric, what do you think would happen? We all know the answer but just amazing that you can suggest a cleanse and it's ok now.
I didn't want to link those other sites but just google "will smith" and look at the news links.
I personally think that is more ambiguous than what Trump said the other day about 2nd Amendment people doing something about Hillary.
That aside, the article titles are surely suspect of referring to just that one line.
Pertinent presentation: Ann Barnhardt's multi-part presentation on the Vendee genocide wherein she draws comparisons to modern America.
I'd link, but YouTube is verboten at work.
Is this the open-marriage gay Will Smith?
The Fresh Prince guy?
The one "married" to the other gay?
The "father" with the wacked-out kids?
The "man" with the self-important diva son who wears dresses?
I am sooooo interested in his geopolitical illuminations. Fascinating!
Will Smith is married to a guy?

Who's WIll Smith?
Pretty much sums up how I would react to celebrities should I meet them "who are you? I don't know you"
Just because you see characters they've PRETENDED to be doesn't mean you know ANYTHING about them as a person- and they are just a person.
Have I mentioned I HATE celebrity whorship?

What the mainstream media and the government won't tell you? The .gov and the MSM won't say it, but the aliens are real. Here is Will Smiths experience on the subject...

There's 4 parts (board only allows 3 embedded videos so you can get to the rest of them from there)
Come try to cleanse my family. I practice daily. Have fun with that.
Probably seemed like a good idea to some when Adolph brought up a similar idea years ago.
I doubt Smith's idea will gain as much momentum today as Adolph's did back then.

Sorry, I disagree. I think what Trump said was far more ambiguous than "cleansing" the US of Trump supporters.

Gotta side with Irving here. It never said cleansing of his supporters. The comment was clearly suspect, but there is a lot of reading between the lines from the direct quote that may be off a good bit. May not be, but the media here was quite sensationalized.
People need to stop buying into the celebs endorsing "insert political person/agenda here". Majority of the celebs are mouth-breathing idiots who have more money than brains. People just need to stop giving a shit what they say and live their damn lives.

Isn't it refreshing to know what their "Final Solution" is?
Shit, I knew there was a reason they were building light rail tracks behind my house.....

If it runs as reliably as the one heading to DIA I think most of us will still live long, happy lives.

There’s a reason why Hollywood and the Demonrats are so enamored with each other. They both get paid huge sums of money to pretend to be somebody they’re not. Why would anybody care what an actor has to say about how to run a country.

This is good. Ignorant people who don't pay attention to anything but Dancing with the Stars and American Idol don't who else to listen to.

Trump and the actor's comments were equally ambiguous. Saying that one was more so than the other just exposes your: 'baaaaaaahhhh'.
One is a highly paid and extremely successful entertainer and businessman. The other is a highly paid and extremely successful entertainer and businessman... that happens to be a candidate for the highest office on the planet...
The framing of either of their words proposes a *possible* desire for their hope for the future.
Your sensitivity to what anyone may say that threatens your beliefs and political hopes are noted. But we're talking about how spoken words are turned into headlines here.
Sticks and stones anyone?
Seriously. We all (or should) know that media sources are a mouth-piece to whomever owns them and writes their checks.
If you believe that media bias is unbalanced (and it pretty much is) in this country, you have 3 options:
1. Enter that 'industry' and try to make a difference
2. Encourage legislators to counter it (anti-1st amendment approach)
3. Cry more and hope someone else does something about it.
Keep your cake or eat it. The marriage between media and industry is very real and it is completely unregulated. 'Journalism' doesn't exist when it comes to multi-billion dollar corporations.
What exactly do some of you people want?

Low information voters. They get their "news" from the Daily Show.

"News" from The Daily Show is probably as accurate and fair as "news" from CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, ad nauseum.
I haven't watched network news for years until just a day or two ago (happened to be the CBS Evening News - Scott Pelley) because of the total lack of ethics or journalistic integrity by any of them. I know it's there. It's no secret. But I was still astounded at the degree to which CBS is in the Clinton camp. There wasn't even an attempt to hide it or pretend the bias didn't exist. That network couldn't have aired a more pro-Clinton, pro-left wing message even if they were on the payroll of the campaign. It was sickening.
I deserved what I got for turning on the TV. Haven't had it for almost a year until just recently. Frankly, I didn't miss anything.

The MSM used to try and hide their bias, but they've stopped even trying to disguise it. They don't even deserve the label of "media" in any other sense than being the pipeline for the leftist agenda. They are not intermediate.

Perhaps Mr. Smith ought to look in his own backyard, first.

You have to understand that will smith is an Artiest and as such he is completely disconnected from the real world. He has no idea of what everyday Americans are going through in their daily lives. He is not even that good of an actor so he should just STFU.

Indeed... He showed his true colors in probably the most honest movie line he has ever uttered in Suicide Squad: He's negotiating what the terms of his joining the team would be, he said he wants his daughter to go to an ivy league school, and if her grades start to slip "just white people that shit." Something tells me he had a hand in getting some of his own personal dialogue in the film. [facepalm]

When I read the OP, I instantly thought about Hitler wanting to perform a cleanse as well. Anyone who accepts history knows how that went for so many people.
I find it interesting that it's always people with money, power and influence who suggest cleansing - and always of the common folk who pose no threat to their status.
If we are to cleanse in this country, let's start by cleansing the books of any laws that violate the Constitution and those that take from those who earn and give to those who refuse to even try. Let's round up and incarcerate those who push to infringe upon those rights or wish to do harm to those of us who seek to work for what we have and do no harm to others. That's the cleansing this nation needs right now.
