I have my tags for second rifle and was wondering if anyone has experience hunting mule deer in 27 or 181. If you do what are some tips you may have this is my first time hunting colorado for deer. I grew up hunting California. I'm considering hunting around the Lily lake area south of Rabbit Ears Pass.

Will be in 181 for first season Elk. Hunted there last year with friends that have been hunting it for +20yrs. If you hunt 181, take a GPS with land ownership maps, 181 has a lot of private land mixed in and its difficult with just a map. Game tends to drift on to private ranches after first season, scout the property border regions in advance to plan first day when things will get pushed. It was quite busy with hunters anywhere within 1 mile of roads second season last year. I base camped about 2 miles in and could see hunters passing through my camp by 8am the next morning from across a valley. I will not be hunting second season this year in 181 due to sparse game / hunter pressure. Send me a PM if you have specific questions.
Based on what my relatives in California tell me about deer hunting out there. Its crawling with deer compared to the Sierras.
